I will contact the pub tomorow (had a weekend @ work) and will aim to be there at half 1. Canman will be guiding the northeners down to the moto services for 12 ish. A quick meet and greet and fuel up then we will make a move (lateset of half 12). I will keep you all informed

This is for all those who are staying in the Premier Inn at Wellingbrough on the 18/09/10 and who would like to join myself and Canman on a mini cruise. I have planned a route and have done a reccie on bank holiday monday just gone. This is avoid the boring A1 run and divert through the Rutland/ Northamptonshire countryside.

Myself and Canman will be meeting (time to be confirmed) at the A1 Moto services at Grantham (NG32 2AB). The first leg of the route will take us from the services via the A607- A606 to Rutland water. I have found a very nice Pub (stopped for a pint as you do) to have lunch and have a look at the stunning scenery before setting off for the second leg down to the hotel in wellingbrough vai the A6003/ A14 and A509.

The First leg:

The journey is 31 miles and should take about 55 mins to reach our lunch stop. The pub is called The Finchs Arms in Hambleton. It is set in the centre of Rutland water and has a fantastic view of the reservoir. I am hoping to meet there for 1 o'clock for a light lunch before heading off for the second leg.

The second leg:

It will take us from Hambleton to the hotel in Wellingborogh. The journey is 31 miles and should take another 55 minutes. The drive is fantastic, there are some great roads on this part of the journey finishing with a bit of dual carrageway which takes us into wellingborogh.

As I said this is a mini cruise for those attending the hotel on the saturday night. I have spoken to the pub and they said it isnt a problem to cater for us (as a group) as long as they have a bit of notice. I was hoping to get an attendance list and then to find out what people want to eat. I am planning to call the pub to pre order the food with a estimated time so that we are not waiting around. Also I would advise a light lunch as we are all meeting up for a nice meal at night, but open to suggestions.

Please could you let me know if you are joining me and Canman so I can get the ball rolling. I have made a map/directions hand out that I will distribute on the day :D Here is a guide for anyone (me included) who hasn't been an many cruises

Thanks, w4tkins :thumb:

W4tkins, I'd like to come along for the ride on the Saturday, and have a bite to eat at the pub. Then when you get to Wellingbrough I'll carry on home and then meet you all on the Sunday at Santa Pod.

Is anyone meeting up from the East/South East on the way to Santa Pod? I'd come along for the drive that mporning.

For the evening entertainment. Turn right out of the Premier Inn grounds for the town centre (less than a couple of miles) but there have been road works for the last couple of months and the road through town centre has been closed (redeveloping the town centre) There is a 24 lane AMF Bowling Alley walking distance away in-between Tesco’s & Halfords, turn left out of the Premier Inn, across the other side of the road in the Victoria Retail Park (next Retail Park up to the one opposite the Premier Inn)
