I have both a full length & shortie Wetsuit........perhaps I should pack one of those as well? Might come in handy if I decide to go Top down on the Parade Lap ? No doubt H&S rules will state no top down without Helmet anyway?

I've given up worrying about keeping the car clean for the show - or will there still be a hardy few going for concours levels of shinyness? Maybe we should have an award for the dirtiest Zed on the day instead?

Cheers

I have a pair of 3 day tickets available - any offers? I booked them on the club deal - the car pass is probably no use as it is has my reg no. on it, but maybe the organisers could help out.

Unfortunately, we are now not able to attend. I booked eveything ages ago, even got a super deal at a hotel! I'm gutted but that's life.

Believe it or not you're not the first to ask this question! ....the organisers have confirmed that helmets are NOT required for the parade lap.

Yes

100GRA wrote:Do we have any timing for the parade lap on Saturday yet?

It'll be during the liunchtime break in the racing programme (subject to no overrun of that programme)

100GRA wrote:Re insurance - "All participants should note that insurance is an individual responsibility. If you are concerned then you should check that your insurance covers this type of event (i.e. a car show and parade lap)."

I have just spoken to my broker, and he believes that the parade lap would come under the heading of rallying, which most insurers (including my own, Aviva) exclude from normal policies. Has anybody any ideas for obtaining temporary cover from any of the specialist insurers?

We've had quite a few queries ref insurance (hence the statement that it is an individual responsibility) however yours is the first insurance company to advise that the parade lap would be classed as rallying  Might be worth relaying the info ref the parade lap update (marshall led etc) to your insurers to see if they'll reconsider their advice to you.

That's great - top down all the way then, it should be compulsory no matter what the weather does lol.

Isn't it a wonderful H&S rule, if you have no helmet, you must, instead, be protected with a layer of cloth.. :D

Yes - that's why I will be using General Parking on Friday and Sunday. Also, you can't leave before 1700.

If anything happens that can be blamed on someone else's stupidity it will have to be a case of suing them as they probably won't be insured. So, let's be careful out there. All that we will be doing is driving around a big loop (all going in the same direction). I don't anticipate any problems. There's more danger on a Sainsbury car park. The only difference is that you will have to sue the individual directly rather than getting your insurer to talk to their insurer (if they are insured). You won't have any personal insurance either, so you could get sued. Let's just hope my throttle doesn't jam open and I career off the track into a Veyron or an F40  .

Many years ago I went to this event but it was Ferrari based, to celebrate some anniversary. There were hundreds of Ferraris there all lined up. During the parade lap one of them went into a barrier, it made a right mess of the car, so these things do happen.

Just posting a numbers update - across the forums we're showing that we have 235 zeds registered. Given that not everyone buying a V-pass is registered on a forum I'd say we should expect 250+ zeds on Saturday :thumb:

UPDATE - MAJOR Change of Display Location > NEW DIRECTIONS

Due to poor ground conditions at Silverstone, we have been moved at our request, to a new position as follows:

New Directions
From Car Park 49 ticket control... Go to Tee junction, turn RIGHT and proceed to Stop line. Turn LEFT and proceed over the Bridge until the Mini Roundabout, turn LEFT and proceed in a straight line until you come to a STOP at the TRACK. Turn LEFT and proceed SLOWLY, under the bridge and prepare to STOP where directed by Club Marshals to your SIGNED area. We are using the disused circuit as our parking area, with all Classes-Models-Types in sections. All facilities are in this area. We will use this position for FRIDAY and SATURDAY, and going to AREA 14, adjacent to this position, for SUNDAY. We hope the better weather will improve our event.

Information will be given throughout the event duration from the Club's marquee.

Thanks for your patience and understanding on this. Finally, PLEASE pass on ALL this info to others you know are coming to zedfest.

Hi Everyone

Just received my tickets, so please add me to the list.

Looking forward to it :D

P.S. If we arrive at the circuit sometime around lunchtime on Friday, does anyone know if we park somewhere different?

Yep, you'll be in the public car park. The infield is closed between 10:00 and 17:00.

They won't let you on the track without it. Bring both parts just to be safe.

I've sent myredzed a map of what I think the route into the site is. I'm awaiting his confirmation before I post it.

I have a pair of original equipment 65mm chrome twin tailpipe ends from my 1999 2.8, in perfect condition, which have been cluttering up my garage cupboards since I had a stainless steel Eisenmann system fitted around five years ago.

I will bring them to Silverstone with me tomorrow (Friday), and anybody who wants them is welcome to them. If anybody is interested, it might be an idea if you let me know by replying to this message today, so that I know who I am looking for tomorrow.

Do they have angled or straight tips? I replaced mine with the newer angled ones and don't really like the look - they looked much better with the original straight tips.
If no-one else definitely wants them, I'll take a look either way - I'll be in the red Z3 roadster with reg T401 RMY, on Saturday.

As you look at the car from the rear, the right hand side of both tailipes is slightly proud of the left hand side, so that they appear to follow the line of the bodywork, but they are not slanted from top to bottom.

They're the same as the ones I have now - the originals didn't follow the body work. Thanks anyway :)
On a separate note, car has just been washed, clayed, polished, waxed and 'extra gloss protected' in preparation. Just the interior and the roof to sort out tomorrow.

I will bring them to Silverstone with me tomorrow (Friday), and anybody who wants them is welcome to them. If anybody is interested, it might be an idea if you let me know by replying to this message today, so that I know who I am looking for tomorrow.

Hi 100GRA,

Can you put me next in line if VikingSven doesn't want the tips and you still have them, although I expect he or someone else will probably will! Mine is a '97 so I am not sure they will fit anyway. I will come and find you on Sat am if I can.

UPDATE - LOCATION MAP

Take a look at this map to give you an idea of the route to our revised zedfest area. Look out for BMWCCGB marshalls in HiViz vests and BMW signs along the route to our area.

Hope the weather stays fine and that you all have a great time. Pity I couldn't get the time off (gutted) but that's life. Plenty of pics please... :) :thumb:

We are leaving Droitwich about 6.30am, and will call in at Warwick services as well. Might see you/others there, will need a coffee! We are then meeting my Sister and Brother in law in their Z3 at the Premier inn car park on the A43 near Silverstone at 8.00am, as they are coming down from Leicester. Looking forward to it!

I hope you all have a great time at this event and I look forward to the pictures. :) Turns out I'm not working after all, but it left me too late to get a ticket at such short notice. Looks like the weather will be good today as well, I might go out for a little drive myself later though not quite the same as going round Silverstone with 250 other Z3s.
