£275 - that's the cheapest day there this year by a country mile.. BookEasyGold and all them want around £400 off you.

I keep the entry numbers low so we all get plenty of time on circuit.

Over 30 years at Silverstone - we have been coming here each Autumn since the 70's!
The daddy of all Club trackdays - This for us is where it all began, out on the grand prix circuit and we are still enjoying it.
We don't share with anyone, we bite the bullet and book the whole place as an exclusive hire, we always have - not a bad achievement for a small one marque members club!
If you only do one trackday this year, do this one - nobody runs a Silverstone trackday like we do!

Regards
Nick

This event is starting to pick up a good few bookings now.
I will be promoting this day like mad when we are at the Silverstone Classic later this month.. so don't go letting me sell your place to someone else.. if you want to come I need to know.
Both trackdays prior to this one have sold out well ahead of the event and left late bookers disappointed

If you know you want to come - call me now!

Our resident snapper Darren Teagles has just confirmed he will be coming to do the pictures again.
They will be hosted on Flickr again so that you can get them all free of charge.

Here is the link to last years pictures
http://www.flickr.com/photos/bmwccgb...7627555035573/

Bob Harper, editor of BMW Car magazine, will also be there to do a feature on the day

We may also get some TV, I'm hoping BMW's in house production team will come and do some coverage for one of their promotional videos.

.. so if you don't want to be spotted on camera or TV, get some gaffer tape for your number plate!

Correct link to the photos is:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/bmwccgb/se ... 555035573/

Judging by the ... in the middle of the URL, Nick copied and pasted it off a post on a board, rather than right-clicking and copying the link.

Edit: too slow, gedo beat me to it.

Cheers R.

You can never have too much Dakar Yellow :P

There was a lovely Dakar M3 parked in front of me in the same pit garage. I think I was the only Z3 roadster there, a couple of Z3M Coupes and loads of M3s.

Trackday now re-scheduled to Friday 23rd November, there are some spaces now available due to people unable to commit to the new date, would be great to see some more Z's there :)

I though I would bring this thread to a conclusion, The track day on the 24th Sept was cancelled due to bad weather and was re-run yesterday (Friday 23rd November).

After panicking about the weather again for the last couple of weeks, will it/won't it rain, the weather turned out to be perfect although we did start with a damp track. I will admit to feeling a little lost in my Z at the start day with so much exotic/expensive machinery kicking about but soon got on with the day and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I reckon I got about approx 50ish laps of the track which was not too bad.

The Z never missed a beat and the work carried out on my brakes recently paid off (caliper refurbish and red stuff pads and new brake fluid), no brake fade whatever. The track is fast and hard to learn but I had a lesson from one of the ARDS instructors first thing in the morning which set me up for the day, Thanks Helen ;)

Not long back home so now off to unpack everything and get the car off the trailer. Darren Teagles of the BMWCCGB was on hand to take pics of the day so I will post them when they are published online, hopefully I will be in them.

A Little Momento of the day :)

Great pictures Brian. I would be interested to know if there was much wear on your tyres, I'm very interested in having a track day at Brands Hatch, but am a bit hesitant as I don't fancy paying out for another set of tyres.

Hi Ron,

This is my first full track day, the track was damp to start with with a dry line appearing late afternoon so I guess the tyres did not get fully used as they would do on a totally dry day. No real significant wear to report.

You will be the biggest factor in how your tyres wear, smooth & steady but still very quick will be better than harsh cornering where you are scrubbing off excessive speed as you are turning in to the corner. Driving at your own pace and being within your limit and the cars limit can be difficult to do with cars flying past you on every straight, it is easy to get carried away . If you do go to one of these track days Ron my advise would be to get instruction ASAP on the day, if the track day is run by BMWCCGB, ARDS Instructors are FOC on the day, this will set you up for the day and at least you will know what you should be doing even if you are not  .

(Edit: ^^ hope this does not come across as patronising)

I will certainly be attending a couple more next year, it would be lovely to see some more Zs at the track :D

Brian

Thanks for your interesting and helpful reply Brian. I can see where you're coming from, "easy to get carried away", I would hope my love of my Zed would keep me focused and out of trouble. Mmmmm, maybe.
