Previous post read:
I was talking with Mint on here regarding reading the codes on his car, and it transpires that we are just a little too far apart for him to just bring the car over, so I got to thinking, how about a lunchtime pub meet one weekend, and I'll bring my gear along and we can read a few people's fault codes for them?

Current thinking is somewhere nice for lunch in the Ashbourne, Buxton, Bakewell area.

I have a cable with adapter so I can read any Z3, and presumably can read the codes on Z4s as well. If anyone else has a cable and a laptop, it would help, especially if we get more than a handful of cars turning up.

Is anyone else up for this in the next few weeks? If there is sufficient interest, then I will start planning it out a bit more thoroughly.

Cheers R.

Count me in if the day fits. I've got a code reader of my own which I can bring along if it helps but it would be good to have localish meet.

I've been a little busy of late to get round to organising this, but driving back from Derby yesterday, I did pass quite a nice looking pub called the Dog and Partridge at Swinscoe. Looking on their website, they seem to offer food all day and have a Bar Snack menu. Does this look okay? Has anyone been there?

I'm tied up next weekend, but there is the possibility of either Saturday 3rd November, or Saturday 10th November.

I can bring some tools to the meeting to show what is available.

Do you use a serial or USB? I use a serial port on a PC with 15 metres of serial cable  . I just reset my 330's service indicator this very morning :D .

I have a BM Technic USB cable with an additional OBD-II to BMW 20-pin adapter. This just about reaches to the cabin, but as it seems to work fine with my 2m USB extension cable, I can use that as well and then I don't need to risk balancing my laptop on anything. I do have a very long serial cable somewhere, but the laptop on which I have INPA installed doesn't even have a serial port!

Be great if you can bring some tools along - we might even be able to sort some problems out on the day. :)

Unfortunately the same for me - just too far from Portsmouth.
Now, if there was a similar meeting down here - well, count me in. It would be a great chance to learn something and exchange ideas.
Has anyone got the equipment and want to start the ball rolling?

It's sounding like the 10th is the favoured day, and I'm pretty sure that Zee3 (John) said that the 3rd/4th weekend was no good for him either, so hopefully he too can make the 10th.

If it proves a useful day, then we can look at doing some more in different parts of the country. I can certainly bring the kit along to the likes of Silverstone, Tatton and CITP. I am also mulling over the idea of a "fix-it" day (though in light of recent events, I'm inclined to call it something else!) - for that though we will need someone with a trolley jacks and the like to host it.

Just spoken to a nice lady at the Dog and Partridge and they have a nice big car park which we are welcome to use and can cope with us for a lunchtime snackerel. I have said 1pm for food.

I'll update the lead post with the details now.

Hello,
I was hoping to join you but I don't think I can make it now.

I am looking to buy suitable diagnostic equipment for my Z3 '98 (built Dec 97) 1.9 Auto.

Any advice from your meet would be much appreciated. I have Windows Vista on my laptop and have read on another site that there are problems in loading INPA on Vista - any views?

Have a good meet( and lunch!).
Cheers

The weather looks ok for tomorrow - looking forward to meeting some more forum members :)

'Outbreaks of rain initially, though it should become drier through the morning. The afternoon should be mainly dry with some sunshine, just a few scattered showers, mainly in the east.'

Zedonist - what route will you be taking tomorrow? Do you fancy meeting somewhere to do a mini cruise together?

Right, just to confirm, this is definitely on for tomorrow - I am back in the country again, as of about an hour ago!

If anyone else would like to join us, it's not too late - just drop me a PM.

It should be a good day and lunch should be a nice bonus.

I've had a look at the map and I think we will both go through Uttoxeter. So how about meeting on the Lidl car park in Uttoxeter at 10:30. Looks like it's about 25 minutes to the pub from there.

See you in the morning...

Home safe & sound after a great day with Robert T, Zedonist and pingu. :D

Some interesting information gleaned from my car which RobertT will be deciphering soon (I hope).

Good to meet up with you guys, good pub, good chat, good company and no rain so roof down on the way there - what more can you ask for? - hope to see you all again.

Cheers for now...

You must have gone home the circuitous route - I've been home an hour!

Nice way to spend an afternoon and not a bad lunch to boot. I've just finished saving all the screenshots I took - 62 in all!!!! I'll post up the errors on here later and we can have a go at deciphering them. Most modules had at least one error, so there are a few to go at.

Nice to meet you, Rich and David and nice to see you again, Gary.

^^ Would be interesting to know if the car has had a failed battery at some point in its life, there are a few errors that all seem to point to low voltage/voltage warnings.

Yes as Robert says I fitted a new battery 2 weeks ago.

Possibly the low voltage errors were when I tried to start the engine only to hear the click click click of the starter solenoid...

Good to meet you all.

I wouldn't be too concerned about codes that indicate problems you didn't know you had. I would reset everything and then go for a drive and re-interogate the ECUs.
