Cruise April 6th 2014

Posted: Mon 09 Dec, 2013 16:49
by billz
Seeing as 2013 was fairly quiet on the cruise front i am putting together a cruise to start off the events in 2014
I have put a route together that i am thinking of doing around March/April next year. This no doubt will change as i keep going through it and doing trial runs. When i have finished i will offer out itn files for both Tomtom and Garmin. It is also open to offers for start, stop and finish points.
http://goo.gl/maps/403hE
I will add names for everyone who is thinking of coming and will check nearer the date to see who confirms. I am also running a Thread on .org which already has 8 possibles.
The Start point will probably be Mcdonalds at Ripley just off the A38 Fairly local to both Derby and Nottingham
Might get told off for this. But this is the link to the Thread on the other forum
http://zroadster.org/forum/threads/to-g ... ling.3841/
I have put a link on there to here.

looks like a good route. I'm possibility up for it dependent on dates and a Garmin file would be great.
can you put me down and i will confirm when we have possible dates?

Sounds a wheeze, please keep me informed also, I don't do all this sat nav stuff though - still working from a 1911 RAC map!
Hope the planning goes well, let me know if you want any input as I know Matlock / Buxton area.

List fully updated. I will look into a location for lunch and to look at stop off points. If there are a lot of us then i will look at splitting into possibly 2 groups. I would suggest (due to knowing a few) 1 group for the quicker drivers and one for a slower group. I will need to look into who will lead the slower group. No doubt i can guess which group Mark (Deano1712) will be in :D

Cool. See how it pans out. I do drive like a bit of a jessy to be fair lol! I think it's bred into me. When you do 2500 miles a week flat out at 52mph it has a lasting effect!

Hi Billz, I can make any date so completely flexible. I have just got my recently acquired zed on the road having taxed it on 18th Dec. Did an economy run today and by not going over 60mph I achieved (according to the computer) 44mpg rising to 46.3mpg when limiting to 50mph on the return journey. Will brim the tank and do a manual check and see if the figures are any way accurate. Seem optomistic to me!! What fun to drive it at last :D
Regards BB

Best way to judge it is to fill it to the brim, run it refill to the brim and do the figures yourself

Don't forget to re-set the onboard computer or you will have all the mpg figures and other readouts since it was last reset, how ever long ago that was, and then it will be more of a true figure of your driving

Hi Geoff, That is exactly what I did. Reset it at the start then obtained the figure at destination. On starting the return journey I did the same to achieve the slightly higher figure of 46.3mpg limiting the speed to max of 50mph. Seeing as the 'official' figure (and we all know how realistic they are!!) states 47mpg tops I am pessimistic about the readings. to be fair though the estimated fuel usage gauged on amount put in and what is still registering on the fuel gauge it can't be far out.
Nice looking zed you have Geoff.

First Meeting Point will be Mcdonalds at Ripley just off the A38 about 10mins from Junction 28 of the M1. Quite local to Both Derby and Nottingham.
From here we will take some back roads upto Matlock and on through Chatsworth Park ending up at. The Second Meeting Point which will be the Old Hall Inn at Hope
Can everyone tell me where they will be meeting up, so i can work out who i need to wait for. Planning on Meeting Time of 09.00 with Departure time of around 9.30.
I think we will be taking the Z3 so i can give it a good blast, but could be the Z4 if Kim has her way :drive

Of course! More the merrier. As far as I'm aware bill is running a fast and a slow group so you can always run in the slow group if you'd prefer. That's where the wife and I will be!! Are you based around Notts/Derbys then?

Cheers
Dave

New date for this cruise. Will now be the 6th April as the 30th March is Mothers Day. Roads will be full plus the places we have looked into for eating are booked up.
Can everyone let me know by the beginning of March or sooner who will be definitely coming as we will have to book. The place we are eating will be the Windy Harbour in Glossop.
Times are as follows
Ripley 9am leave at 9.30
Hope 11.00 leave at 11.30
Glossop Meal Stop around 13.00
Meal cost is around £13 per head for a 2 course (very nice) Me and mozz tried it today, plenty of room for all.
Those that dont require a meal there are plenty of seating areas.
Thanks

Would like to come along possibly starting off from Hope as nearer coming from Doncaster, although the early route looks good.
What time would the meet be at Hope?
