Intermittent Audio Fault - Please help

Post by MINEZEY »

Hi Forum,

Please help! Ive had my 2000 Z3 2.0 Roadster for a couple of months now. But ever since Ive had it I have had problems with the sound system....

....The problem is that intermittently the sound reduces in the front speakers, sound is tinny and base is greatly reduced. Im no technician but I think it may have something to do with the Front Amplifier, maybe a loose wire/connection??

Can anyone shed some light on this problem or inform me where the AMP is located and how to get at it ?

Thanks in advance

The problem is likely to do with a small amplifier attached to the back of the left hand footwell speaker. I suspect the relay on the circuit board has a dry joint (soldering fault) or is faulty.

Do a search here for footwell amp to find more information about it.
