My new winter project - Wheels!

Post by spurs fan in a coupe »

Afternoon all despite my issues with the stereo I did enjoy a trip to a Ferrari garage in Wandsworth today to get some winter tyres and a trip to Haslemere for a set of 3 series wheels to wear my new rubber.

Not sure i'll ever actually use the winter tyres but i've always been curious and last year was, to be frank, mental!

I plan to get my spare set of alloys shod with winter tyres as it does get a little tricky when the white stuff starts falling being a daily drive and all.

Hmmm, maybe this would be a good use for the wheels I took off when I upgraded to 18's... My 5 series was hopeless in the snow, and I doubt my 3 series would be any better.

Are they expensive compared to standard tyres?

Thanks for that, will have a look later. Certainly on my (ever expanding) list of things to buy for the Zed. :bawl:

Well they did go on last night and a few hours later about 4 inches of snow fell.

Did the job today, 50 miles round trip in some awful conditions!

Better photos to follow

As promised better photos, I actually really like the wheels. Tyres are good at low speed, loads of traction. Very Happy.

I'd be interested in the wheel please!

I'm after some 17's for my 3 series to get some winter boots on ready for the cold!

Best thing you can get for your BMW

Just ordered a set of winter runflats for the 1 Series after last winters fiasco. Winter tyres should be made compulsory then maybe the country wouldn't grind to a halt with an inch of snow.

Tim.
