Z3 Footwell Speaker question

Post by laurieh »

Hi all,

Have just upgraded my bmw head unit with a JVC 4x50w, also got myself a pair of components Edge 305 210w output. Today i removed the front passenger footwell speaker to find it attached to a amp/crossover type of thing.

Can i bypass this with the setup i now have, i dont want mega bass but really wanted something sounding better then the standard setup i had.

Cheers

Have fitted the iso harness and all works fine, the standard bmw speakers sounded naff so i brought the Edge 305 as found some good feed back on them without having to add separate amp (for the time being)

So today i thought i would just swap them out....the speaker amp on the passenger footwell speaker i was just going to cut out and workout which wire goes where as my head unit already has amp built in and thought that the amp in the footwell might be causing lack of bass

When I swapped my HU and front speakers, I ran new speaker wire from the HU ISO converter to the speakers. Just seemed easier than messing around with the existing wiring.

On this theme of footwell speakers - I recently (well about 9 months ago) had a new head unit fitted by a specialist shop. I now realise that the footwell speakers are completely silent. Has anyone got a nice straightforward solution please?

Thanks

Hi John

Just a thought....the fader settings are correct aren't they? this could cause just the rears to work if you got the fader settings wrong.
