Standard Z3 mirrors actually look good on that.
Please don't all shout at me at once for saying that.

Perhaps because it's so cheap and things aren't quite right people are wary
Unless it's a non registered salvage repair

I think the 4 exhausts and ///M badge might give it away thoughOxford_gruen_II wrote:I was thinking the same thing. I kinda like it with the Z3 wing mirrors and rear view mirror. Discrete like Spokey's ahem 520igarythefish wrote:The car does make you wonder if it's real

I think it is. In which case, the true price should be £7,000 (70% of full price).garythefish wrote:Unless it's a non registered salvage repair
If you are interested in a cheap ///M Roadster it's worth seeing in the flesh. It's unusual to have 9 photos, but none of the engine bay.
It will only cost £140 to get an RAC inspection (or £250 for Essentials Plus).

Money very wisely spent, I think.

A word of warning regarding RAC and AA inspections:
A friend of mine bought a TT a few months ago from a dealer but thought it'd be worth having it fully AA inspected (yes, the expensive one), as he's not mechanically-minded (for lack of a better term!!).
The car was badged as a a quattro, advertised as a quattro, even the V5 said it was a quattro. Did the AA guy bother to check whether it was really a quattro?
Well you guessed it. He completely missed an entire differential and the transmission axle, and my friend is still trying to get this mess sorted out with the CAB, the DVLA and the AA. BTW the issue was only identified accidentally by another friend who is a TT-head and a senior member of the TTOC forums.
I'll tell you right now, if you're looking at a potentially dodgy car, the forum is you ONLY friend...
Just my £0.02!

Having said that Komis, don't the AA and RAC guarantee their findings, and allow for a money back pledge in case certain details aren't correct?
You are basing the decision to purchase a car on their findings after all, so liability would logically be theirs if it all went sour.
Or am i speaking a load of cobblers?

Chris you're right - in theory they should pay back. However this somehow beyond the point.
The fact is that the guy wanted a neat TT the way he wanted it, and now because of the inspection, he has to deal with a car that could well prove to be stolen, or put together from halves or god knows what else. Not to mention the fact that he has to chase up the sellers for a refund and go looking all over again until he finds something that suits.
So I'd say it's pretty safe to assume the whole experience has been totally ruined for him... And I'd think the £200odd he'll get back from the AA isn't going to help much. The RAC don't guarantee their inspections in any way, according to their website. Couldn't find anything on the AA site. Guess he'll be lucky if he gets a refund then...
I don't know whether the guy took an HPI check as well, if he did, they may pay out the £10K or so that the HPI guarantees, which would be nice, but again, how many years and chasing up will it actually take until they cough up?

HPI will only pay out if it should have been recorded, but wasn't. It won't pay out if it was an uninsured rebuild, or an unreported theft. Even then, there are time limits between the reported incident and when it has to be on the database. Get-out clauses - don't ya just luv em.komis wrote:I don't know whether the guy took an HPI check as well, if he did, they may pay out the £10K or so that the HPI guarantees, which would be nice, but again, how many years and chasing up will it actually take until they cough up?
Back on thread - I think a lot of people are thinking the same as me. It's too cheap. If I was selling a "dodgy" car, I'd either come clean, or I'd price it at market value. I'm quite happy to buy a repaired car as long as I know that's what I'm buying.
