Shanty, you mean you can't afford £25 more per yearshantybeater wrote:does look nice, shame it will hit the higher roadtax prices
Its about £25 anyway (£215 v £190 for the S50 or something like that). I had also been led to believe the S54 were £400 so I was pleasently surprised when I looked at the tax disc and did some research. The limit was extended to post 2006 cars for the £400 charge

I'd love to but I would need to sell mine first, i dont have the finances to buy outright without it & i imagine a part exchange deal would leave me quite burnt for the trouble

It does sound a perfect example, full spec and good background.
As Shanty implies above would be easier to haggle with no trade in especially if the trader is up for making a quick turnaround.
One thing worth considering (I'm not saying this is the right thing to do without seeing the car and history) is to turn it into a private sale ie one of the things the dealer has to factor into his price is liability, he will offload some of this into a 3rd party warranty but still leaves him with some risk (especially if only 3 months warranty). I've bought cars before "sold as seen" and its treated as a private sale. This could knock £1k off the price striaght away and makes it easier for him to make a quick profit. Its then just like weighing up the risk of a private sale (but a bit better as the car looks to have been "prepped" for resale cosmetically) ie risk of some costs v saving on sale price
If I didn't already have an s54 I'd definately be tempted with this, best combo of OEM spec, mileage and history I've seen for sale this year (apart from mine )

For what its worth my thoughts are (although everyone has different reqirements), if your really after a Z as a keeper then its gotta be worth a look and cheaky (but not stupid) bid. Even if you leave your details, give them a price you will pay, you may get a phone call in a few months if it does not sell.
If your not after a keeper and yours is a nice car then don't do it, enjoy your Z
Actually, thats a load of bollocks! go on you know you want to

Are you sure yours doesn't fall behind the 2002 cut off jontt? E.g this 2002 car will be £400?
I'm pretty sure that's how it works. If the car is registered before 2002 the old tax rules apply and anything newer gets raped! I used to own a 2002 reg Cupra which cost me around £260 for the year, I then sold this and bought exactly the same car but registered in 2000 and it was £180.
I imagine if anyone was unlucky enough to have an s50 registered late in 2002 they'd be paying £400 as well

Yep positive £215 pre 2006 registered cars.
Here are the new rates for 2010 (of increases for anything that does not run on potato juice )
source: DirectGov
What about already registered cars?
From April 2010, already registered higher emitting cars will be charged up to £30 more and lower emitting cars will be charged up to £30 less.
Band
CO2 (g/km)
2010-11 standard rate
A

B
101-110
£20
C
111-120

D

E

F
141-150
£125
G

H

£180
I

J

£235
K*
201-225
£245
L
226-255
£425
M
Over 255
£435
*Band K includes cars that have a CO2 figure over 225g/km but were registered before 23 March 2006.
This last bit is the important bit, so ALL S54's fall back into band K which of course makes a massive difference, almost makes me want to vote Labour
I think I'llpost this on a seperate thread as there seems lots of confusion and people (including me) who are not aware do factor it into reasons not to go for an S54 over an S50

Re: S54 Roadster on eBay - lowish miles
I started reading through the thread, getting excited at an S54 with low miles for such a good price. Then I wondered why all the links were dead and spotted the post dates! Doh!
Re: S54 Roadster on eBay - lowish miles
You can't beat a thread resurrection..........but we need pics
Re: S54 Roadster on eBay - lowish miles
Just for a bit of history, I posted in this thread in 2007. http://www.zroadster.net/forum/viewtopi ... =6&t=14840lisasinden wrote:hope you were talking about my baby? HK02 HEL? bought it in April 2012 and yes its a great car... love it.

HK02HEL
WBSCL92040LB64125
Estoril Blue / Blue roof / Blue interior
A/C, Cruise Control, Radio Cassette
Good stuff...
Plenty of tread on tyres
Bodywork is good, not excellent. No dents. All shut lines look good.
Car Tax until May 2008.
Seats don't rock.
All seat electrics work.
Doesn't seem to have been played with. No mods and engine bay in normal condition.
No leaks visible.
Has tonneau cover.
Has compressor (not tested).
Has 1st aid kit.
Has tool kit (looks complete, but I'm not sure)
Bad stuff...
There are chips down to primer on the R/H/F lower wing panel and on the rear of both doors.
Non-BMW floor mats.
Hood is OK, but has some green around the bottom.
Rear screen has a bad fold line.
L/H/R wheel needs a refurb, and may be unable to be refurbed due to the gouges.
Broken passenger seat seat belt retaining clip.
ABS light on.
Engine light on.
2 green lights on.
Last service was at 32,000, next service is Inspection 2.
Oil level low but above minimum.
Coolant 1-1/2 inches below minimum.
Engine wasn't run as the coolant was too low. I never start a car in this condition, and I always walk away (which I did).
Service History...
14/05/2002 Pre-Delivery BMW Lind of Norwich
20/06/2002 1200 Service (1240 miles) BMW Lind of Norwich
20/09/2003 Oil Service (8847 miles) BMW Lind of Norwich
26/05/2005 AUC Check (21420 miles) BMW Hexagon
26/05/2005 Inspection 1 + Micro Filter (21420 miles) BMW Hexagon
25/10/2006 Oil Service (32622 miles) An Indy in Reading
Assuming the ABS and Engine lights are sorted...
This car needs Inspection 2 + Coolant Change + Brake Fluid Change (£500 from Indy)
This car could do with L/H/R wheel refurb (£75), Driver seat leather refurb (£75), Passenger seat clip replacing (£25), Rear window replacing (£150), BMW floor mats (£75), Stone chips sorted (£100).
I consider a minter S54 without warranty (but 12 mth MOT and 12 mth car tax) to be worth £16,000. This car, as it stands is worth (IMO) £14,500 to £15,000.
