AC Schnitzer extras
I have almost struck a deal for an M roadster with some AC Schnitzer extras. This will be my third M and therefore I've got lots of spare bits lying around.
SO.........
AC Schnitzer full exhaust system. How much would this be worth second hand? I have a full remus system which I loved the sound of so would be happy to sell the Schnitzer if anyone was interested?
AC Schnitzer chrome roll hoops. I would be happy to do a swap with someone for the standard hoops plus cash my way. The cash my way would be greatly reduced if the same person wanted to fit the standard hoops on my car as well Oh and throw in a wind breaker
If the car has no boot weld problems I'll be picking it up this week so feel free to PM me if your interested.

Both the exhaust and hoops are NLA from schnitzer.
The exhausts are a bit hit and miss IMHO are there are much better systems out there so its hard to put a price on them. I would advertise on the Z3mcoupe forum as well
The hoops are very rare and desirable with people travelling all over the place to track a set down.
I would say they are worth upward of £500 with people paying that with exchange for OEM hoops. If you want a quick sale then £350+ including OEM hoops
Is it the black ///M your getting ?

That's the one I'm interested in yes. Anyone know anything about the car that I should before I drive down from Edinburgh haha!
If I have people interested in the hoops and or exhaust before buying that would be perfect. Only because my Remus exhaust is in a friends garage in Wales so could do everything while I'm home.
Schnitzer Hoops ----- offers + OEM Hoops
Exhaust ------ Open to offers

love the hoops
but as we have the mesh wind deflector up all the time the roof is down it would be a waste ( owner has long blonde hair and needs to be able to see )
plus buying extened leather consoles +doors and centre console and type 2 racing wheels this weekend may be stretching things a bit
still thats valentines presents sorted.

Stright swap to any Z3 with OEM hoops.
The Schnitzer can be a tight fit and you have to manually get them to the right height and fix in place. The OEM ones have indents for the bolts to fit into so you know you have them at the right height.
They will be identical to mine but as you say depends on condition. They are the highest quality and full TUV safety approved (thats why they were so expensive when new and so rare now)
ps these are the type of rare popular mod that so long as you get them for a fair price you will always get your money back on them if you resell

yeah safety is so important, is there a trademark on these somewhere to verify if they original.
Not saying the ones on sale are not real but just if I miss out on these in the future I see some on ebay.
No there is no stamps on them that I can remember other than the schnitzer badge on the leather pad.
I have never seen copies though (you can get much cheaper chrome ones off ebay but they are different shape etc... nd they are not branded as schnitzer)
The ones being sold look fine on the sale pics but depends how old they are?

m
that black m is a cracker, every time i saw it on pistonheads i couldnt believe it was still for sale. What does an ac schnitzer exhaust sound like?
Please don't assume this is a 10 min job. Both Alfie and I had to resort to a block of wood and a club hammer to get ours out. They could be VERY tight and you may need to hit them much harder than you really want to. Also, be careful with the plastic covers on the towers they are easy to damage and the ones in the storage box are quite brittle with silly little tangs that were clearly designed for a one time install. If you have the subwoofer then budget time for getting that out as well.Jonttt wrote:The hoops are a 10 min job to change, just 3 torx bolts either side and they pull out / OEM ones drop in
A great addition for sure, but worthy of some time and care to do the swap.
thread showing my bid to buy thesesAmz wrote:thanks for your continued helpJonttt wrote:Stright swap to any Z3 with OEM hoops.

Fair comment about getting them out, I guess stating 10min could be a bit optimistic if they are tight and certainly worth taking a soft mallet with you
I knew these would be popular.
The problem is the OP did not state a price he effectively asked for offers.
So it would not necessarily be the first person to make the offer who would get them eg if I offered 10p for them I don't think I could argue if someone later offered £500
I think when someone asks for offers then its like a sealed bid process. You offer what you are willing to pay but have to accept that the seller can take whichever over he prefers no matter who was first ?

thats correct and i agree, just wasnt sure what the rules where on here for selling/buying, i am a member of different forums and they all have then own rules so maybe just confusing myselfJonttt wrote:Fair comment about getting them out, I guess stating 10min could be a bit optimistic if they are tight and certainly worth taking a soft mallet with you

Hi everyone. Had no idea how popular the hoops were going to be.
I am trying to get back to everyone. I have tons of offers and I'm not sure what the usual buying/selling rules are on here but have some seriously high offers (wasn't expecting close to this)
Also had a good offer of someone willing to drive to Scotland and change them over. I will get back to everyone in time and will be picking the car up this week. So will know more then.

As stated by Jon, often the best way is to get users to openly bid up until there is only one man left standing (I won a Strong Strut brace this way!), however I doubt I'll come up trumps on these!
Without wanting to tread on toes, I'll start the ball rolling with:-
£250 plus OEM hoops and Wind Deflector.

Saves Ebay fees and you would get your best price on here for such a specialist item as these if you run a proper open auction as Yalden suggests. As there are a few options re swaps utlimately it would be your decision whose bid you accepted as it may not soley be the highest cash offer (eg logistics may play a part ?) So long a people accept this there should be no problem.
There are no "rules" as far as I know for this type of thing on here so as always whatever is fair and logical I'm sure would be acceptable to everyone
ps you just need to buy the car now (can you feel the pressure )
