How much should I pay for a >1999 2.0L Z3 - Dealer/Privat

Hi, A Newbie question for your excellent site......
How much should I be looking to pay cash for a face-lifted >1999 2.0 litre 24 valve Z3 with good spec, colour, wheels, FSH and under 80k miles???

Difficult question. Have you compared prices on Autotrader, eBay and the likes?
How much is the car on sale for? May be easier for us to comment on that!

I would have thought that cars listed for £4000 - £4500 will only sell for £3300 - £3600.
My brother recently bought a 2008 Volvo V50 R Design D5 for £10k which started out for 13K!

If it goes for that price some one will have a good deal, i would assume on that info it would go for at least around 4500

Guide prices are that, they're never set in concrete so considering that the market is a bit slow these days, you may be able to get a deal. However, I wouldn't bet on saving much off the asking price on Z's, they seem to fetch their asking prices more often than not. The best conditioned ones are owned by enthusiasts and being one I wouldn't accept less than £5000 for mine (80k, 2.0l, limited edition) but the perks are that they've been pampered for most of the time that they've been around, so expect to get what you pay for.

I just bought a 1 owner, 2.2 with M pack inc all the gubbins M suspension & 17 " factory fitted wheels everything on it 54000 miles FBMWSH always garaged at night a proper minter for £4250.00 cars are not selling, ask for at least £1.000 off the asking price
(the economy is **** out there & don't anybody forget it

Well I bought my Z3 2.8, 3 months ago for 2995, ok it has 122k on the clock but it drives like a dream.
I am trying to sell mine as I now have a family and new house so cant keep it anymore, Im after offers over £2700. I think that I will actually cry when it does go though as I have completely fallen in love with it.

My 2000 2.0 is up for sale for £3995 ono on Pistonheads at the moment, which I feel is a realistic price for a very well cared for, and clean example.
I know that it's generally a buyers market at the moment, but as quality examples get rarer, genuine bargains becaome harder to find.
A local garage to me has just sold a 1997 1.9 with 130k on the clock for £4500 (it had a screen price of £4995!)

In March I bought a z3 2001 1.9 excellent cond, fsh, 40K for £4950 from a dealer. I'd reseached the prices for some time before and reckon this was a fair price.. I would put value on the service history and low miles.
Ebay and autotrader are pretty good guides

I just bought a 1999 2.0 with 95K, FBMWSH, tan leather interior with M stick and wheel, car cover, net wind deflector, just serviced and MOT'd, airbag sensor replaced as it came on during test drive. Recently treated hood and 3 months/3000 mls warranty. I paid £3200 and it was only on for £3300 in the first place. Taken in part exchange. I do feel I got a right bargain reading some of the prices people pay, especially some of the prices wanted from dealers.
Use the Network Q website as it has the glasses car guide for part exchange prices. Add 10-20% for auction prices. ( my friend used his iphone at an auction and prices lots of cars that went through to work out how much =/- cars were going for from the glasses price. Use parkers for a private price guide. And somewhere between the two should be your absolute minimum/reserve if ebaying.
Also if you select the 'completed auctions tab' then you can scroll down the list of finished auctions, and select the green prices as they have passed their reserves and actually sold. I spent alot of time looking at prices to work out what was priced well and what wasn't, before I'd even looked at condition etc.
