Help in buying Z4 i need a cynical view!!

Post by boblez »

OK. i think i may be answering my own questions but here goes. I have seen a 3lr Z4 for sale here in the UK for a very good price, So i have have done a quick check and come up with this result.

https://www.mycarcheck.com/customers/re ... 6/PDPKNBKM

Seems legit? Can anyone see anything wrong? Anyone recognise the Reg plates? etc? Or am i just too cynical?

Cheers

Why do you think there's anything wrong? Looks to me like the first owner registered it with W77NGS, then changed plate when he sold it. Second owner then put GAZ3182 on and changed back this year ready to sell the car again.

Its got 40000 miles on the clock, the owners are retired and live in Copenhagen but the car is in Blackpool where they used to live, and they only want £4500 for it?!?!?!

Let me guess. They want a quick sale as they don't need the car any more and when you transfer the money to them they send the car to you and will give you a full refund if you don't like it.

Ask to view the car. That usually puts them off or tell them that your friend who lives in Blackpool will come round to view.

I smell a scam!

Ask them for the address where it's kept and pay the car a visit :P

I would want to meet them the registered address of the car not a hotel in Blackpool.

Still sounds dodgy

Where was it advertised? That is ridiculously cheap. If it's not a scam you've got the bargain of the year.
Make sure you don't end up mug of the year!

Certainly not a mug, i didnt fall out of the christmas tree, so proceeding with lots of caution! Sad really, how odd would it be if it were genuine! We are such a cynical lot lol. I await an answer from the seller!

Nobody is accusing you of being a mug or falling out of trees erected around the festive period but we do see a lot of this type of thing on here and sometimes have fun winding them up.

Can you post a link to the ad?

Can't be right surely? either a spelling mistake on the price or a scam. I've been looking at Z4 prices recently and the cheapest 3.0L I've seen is £6995 with 90k on the clock and an 03 plate. The only cheaper I've seen is a damaged (CatC I think  ) at £2995. A decent Z3 will be more than £4500 with only 40k.

Tim.

I agree with the views above. If it seems too good to be true, then it usually is.

I was looking for a 3.0 Z4 for some time and as Tim said, the lowest you tend to see is around the £7k mark. I hope for your sake it's genuine, but somehow, I just can't see it.

Just don't part with any money until you have seen it!

When they say mug... Not you but the action! Definately don't take any cash, or even better, meet in the public area of the hotel and make sure people are around, as there have been stories of muggings for ficticous cars.

Do keep us posted, as you say, could be bargain of the year, but why sell something so far under the market value?
