1998 Z3 2.8 30,000 Miles only, 'Now Sold'

Post by MickJ »

Reluctant sale of my Z3, but need something a little bit bigger, info as follows:

First registered 10\08\1998 (just had its 13th birthday).

2 former keepers, 1st had the car from new till 30/11/2000, 2nd (A Doctor) from 30/11/2000 – 11/03/2011.

Just about to ‘click’ over 30,000 genuine miles.

Currently showing 4 Greens on service indicator.

Finished in ‘Artic Silver’ with Red Leather interior.

All 3 keys available + 2 Alarm Fobs & 2 Siren keys.

Full tool kit & first aid kit.

Taxed & MoT’d till next March 2012.

All handbooks, supplementary handbooks etc that would come with a new car are in the original BMW case as is the Radio Code and the Alarm installation certificate\code as issued by Thorns.

Old MoT’s from 2005 (more on that later)

Standard BMW Radio and boot mounted Multi CD Player.

Perspex wind deflector.

Tonneau cover.

Some mild ‘mods’: Mag Stone Guards, LED side lamps, clear side indicator repeater lights*, angel eye\projector headlights*, Stubby aerial*, Chrome gills.
* I still have the original parts and will go with the car if sold.

I had the front and rear bumpers repainted (off the car) at a cost of £714.49 due to stone chips on the front and some very minor scuffing on the rear, this is stated on the paint shop invoice and I also have pre-paint pictures as proof that it was not accident damage.

Service History which was carried out at BMW dealerships is as follows:

08/08/1998 Pre Delivery check @ 20 miles
28/08/1999 Oil Service @ 8785 miles
11/10/2000 Oil Service @ 11431 miles
13/07/2001 Insp 1 (brake fluid\coolant change) @ 15622 miles
05/03/2003 Oil Service @ 21488 miles
17/03/2005 Insp 1 (brake fluid\coolant change) @ 23680 miles
26/01/2011* Insp 2 (brake fluid\coolant change) @ 28706 miles

* Almost 6 year gap between servicing but only 5026 miles covered in that time, when you see the miles covered between MoT’s for that period ( a bit somewhat haphazard to say the least) you can understand why he didn’t bother to get it serviced!

MoT History (partial):
Issued 10/11/2005 – Expired 09/11/2006 Mileage 24161
Issued 08/01/2007 – Expired 07/01/2008 Mileage 25010 (miles between MoT’s 859)
Issued 25/02/2008 – Expired 24/02/2009 Mileage 25634 (miles between MoT’s 624)
Issued 16/04/2009 – Expired 15/04/2010 Mileage 28247 ( miles between MoT’s 2613)
Issued 27/05/2010 – Expirers 26/05/2011 Mileage 28442 ( miles between MoT’s 195)*
*New 12 month MoT issued to me as less than 6 months remained on existing MoT at purchase, this was issued on the 11/03/2011 and showed a mileage of 28728 giving a total of 286 miles covered between 27/05/2010 & 11/03/2011.

An advisory was given on this MoT regards a chip on the windscreen outside zone ‘A’ which was purely cosmetic, but I had a new windscreen fitted anyway.

Car is in excellent condition, I bought it from a BMW dealership, neighbours can’t believe that it’s 13 years old, starts first turn of the key, it’s never been out in the rain since I have had it, gets polished nearly every time I go into the garage, brake disc’s are all good and it looked like new brake pads had been fitted when I had all the wheels off recently.

Only thing wrong that I am aware of, is the passenger door actuator has stopped working, it had been a bit intermittent previously, could be a loose connection? I have not had time to fix it but I understand it’s an easy fix.

Pictures below.

Looking for £5250 o.n.o. for her, I paid a lot more than that and have spent a further £1200 since this March.

I am looking for a E46 Ci Convertible 320\325\330 on a 02\03\04 plate with less than 60k miles, prefer a Blue with Biege interior but would consider other colour schemes, swap the Zed + cash your way!!??

one thing though, why are the wheel balance weights on the outside of the rims?

they should have used sticky ones on the inside?

I wondered that when I had the wheels off, they have balanced the inner rims the same way, must have been done from new as they are the original tyres.

Yup. Mine had weights on the rims like that until the tyres were changed and then I got them to put them on the inside - looks much tidier and easier to clean.

Good luck with the sale - looks very tidy.

Cheers R.

Bumpty bump, have seen a car I want.

£4500.

Just been up to Derby in it, roof down love the way that 2.8 engine pulls in top you don't need to touch the stirring stick!
