Z3 1997 2.8 low mileage NOT FOR SALE ANYMORE

Post by Eastsix »

GROOOAAANN

Apparently we need something with 4 seats, according to the wife. Ive told her no-one is buying at the moment, but have begrudgingly agreed to put it up for sale. Dont tell her, but if it sells, I have a sneaky plan to buy a Z4 or 3.0 Z3 in the spring.

Here is the ad by the guy I bought it from last November

http://www.zroadster.net/forum/viewtopi ... ht=#263198

I'll add current photos and answer any questions, but basically nothing much has changed. Its done 61k miles now, so about 5000 in the last year. Not been garaged since I bought it, but seems to have been before. I've only had an oil change done in that time, so its due a good service. It looks great at a few paces, but up close there is a scuff on the passenger door (been there since I bought it) and there is a small patch on the corner of the rear bumper where someone has scuffed some paint off.

So there it is. Ive taken account of the need for a service and Im putting it up for £3300 FOR ONE MORE WEEK ONLY TILL 10/11 (edited) Tax is up to end of December, MOT is in May. It's only for sale for a few weeks cos my insurance is due mid November, and if I renew, i'll keep it. If you want a very pretty low mileage 2.8 with some tasteful tweaks, you have a window of opportunity!
Any questions please let me know through here, or you can contact me on 07734102035. Im in East ham, East London.

Glad to hear you are keeping the Z. You will now have time to put the luggage rack on the right way round

This is something ive debated - the forum member who sold me the car had put it on that way around, and I didnt think too much about it -i suppose it made sense that the vertical 'lip' be at the back, to support luggage at the bottom of the slope of the luggage rack. But since then I've seen them both ways around. One thing i noted was that putting it the other way around allows you to put ski's or long packages on and over the roof. why else should it be the other way around?

Congrats on keeping the Zed Bill ;)

I heard that when fitted the other way around, the lip is supposed to stop suitcases smacking you in the back of the head if you had a rear ender ????

To me the right way would be as you have it, but what do I know :)

Yeah that makes sense, but if its tied to the rack well enough to be on it at 70mph it should be tied well enough not to brain you too, surely? (not that ive ever used it...)

I keep meaning to find out about getting blanks so I can take it off-im sure it doesnt help fuel economy. Having said that, I quite like it. i know a lot of people dont, and refer to it as a shopping cart, but to me it makes it look a bit more 'classic car'

You can put it on any way you like, but if you have the BMW suitcase it should be fitted with the 'lip' facing the rear window.
It would be a pain in the proverbial to put on and take off with the rack fitted the way you have it.

Ah, right. I dont have a BMW suitcase-I dont even know i the rack is an official BMW one!
I quite fancy the 3 piece boot luggage set you can get for these. i cant imagine ever actually using the rack.

I use it every now and again and I think that it looks good on the car, just my opinion.

But you are driving just using your wing mirrors as all you can see in the rearview mirror is a black suitcase.
