Hi,thinking of changing my originalZM alloys for either 18" or 19"

The alloys were professionally refurbed approximately 3500 miles ago and new Michelin tyres were fitted at this time.Still like new.

Can anyone give me an idea of what I should be asking for these?

It's hard to value M wheels as they won't fit anything else so only of interest to another M owner, that aside, I paid £400 for a refurbed set without tyres.

Which Michelins are fitted ?

I paid 450 for mine with pilot sport ps2's all round in good nick. But the actual alloys weren't in as good condition as yours are!

I would keep them on the M.. I don't think Ms look that great with aftermarket alloys... But that's just my opinion...

If your thinking of another set I would suggest keeping the originals as well..

We would love an M, currently have a 98 2.8, just my opinion but like another poster states ,they maketh the motor, I wouldn,t entertain purchasing an M with aftermarket wheels :nono

Unless it's Jonttt's or shantybeaters ... they both look fantastic with the wheels they have :bow

I agree :D

But mine are not aftermarket as they where official BMW optional parts ;-)

Agree with posts above re value. They are worth £600 with the tyres but your market is very limited mostly to another Z3m owner with aftermarket wheels who wants a set for winter or to put back to OEM.

Personally I would keep them (in fact I picked a setup for mine for £100 needing a refurb as it came with aftermarket and no OEM's) unless you need funds for the replacements. They will still be worth the same when/if you come to sell the car and the car would probably be easier to sell with them on (depending which aftermarket ones you go for). Most aftermarket wheels add nothing to the value of a Z3m and more often than not put people off unless they are recognised high quality / desirable such as Schnitzer or BBS in the right style.

Thanks mate 8-)

I'll leave it at this - the roadstars are one of my favorite OEM wheels but I have no regrets for swapping :)

In answer to your original question, you would probably see £400+ for the set.

What are you considering as a replacement? I would strongly suggest writing off the idea of 19's, in most cases they are just too big, especially on the front. In an ideal world 18" is the best size for the z3 (or 17's on a heavily lowered car) ...thats my opinion anyway

Pic of a previous Roadster I owned a couple of years ago-Hartge 19" alloys approved by BMW and still available from Birds (BMW)
IMHO gives a much better srance than standard rims

Good choice, I'm sure I remember this car, always thought it looked good. the hartge rims are also one of the select few which can be pulled off in 19" due to their stepped lip. 100% do it!

Johnwayne - how about these:

Not sure if widths/offsets are the same as your previous set though?

Don't you just love it when people advertise wheels without giving the offsets :head:

Just browsing "pistonheads" and see my last Roadster is on sale at £11995!!!-sold it with new hood,18" alloys etc for £9000 last year.I remember the seatbelt guide was broken on the drivers seat and see still not replaced. I thought these wheels looked o/k after I had them refurbed

That's quite an upsell! They look ok, I think the zed needs a staggered setup with dished rears to make the most of its curves though. The hartge wheels get my vote
