Assuming you mean the original BMW black netting type that slips over the standard roll hoops, I would suggest Ebay. They seem like gold dust this time of year. I bought mine on ebay at the end of last summer and paid around £80. I reckon if you get one below £75 you can count yourself lucky.

This is the problem, wrong time of year to be buying one. My mum now has the Z but isn't enjoying it because of the wind. In your opinion do these make much difference?

They do make some difference. If you're patient, one will come up in a few days, weeks..... I was fortunate to get one for around £60. But then since I'm in South Africa, I also had shipping costs and import duties, so it was probably as much as £100 by the time I got it. There are perspex ones available, and if you use one of them, you lose easy access to the rear storage box. The Mesh OEM ones are still the most versatile. Get your mom a golf type cap, she will find that a suitable interim solution until a reasonable priced mesh deflector comes up. I find that with the mesh deflector, it also helps with reducing glare from cars at night. The Zed is generally lower than other vehicles, and their headlights tend to be at about your head height, which can be bright. The mesh has the effect of reducing that dazzle.
So, that's about all the pro advice I can give you.
