My 98 has 54mm holes for dials with no apparent way to fit (aside from adhesive)

The air con controls are all the same on the Z's.... The clock bezel may be a variable though... And they clip into the holes in the facia of the console...but you can glue them in if you prefer... they do tend to pop out quite easily...

Thanks.
The ledge is less that 1mm so I guess a bit of cynoacrilate is best.

As our South African friend says, they clip in (with 4 clips).

They were in quite securely when I removed them earlier, I doubt they pop out too frequently.

I'm sure someone on here who has them can comment on their security?

Seems odd. I just looked at my dials. Dials are flush behind the fascia (I can hardly slip a piece of paper between them). I don't see how those four clips will grasp the fascia that covers the 3 dials which is only about 1mm thick.

They do fit...the clips are more a pressure on the inner edge of the cut-out than an actual clip... but they do fit as they are designed to do.... I have the same bezels on my console... and they are interchangeable from one Z3 to another...

With regards to the fit: I was surprised that they even could clipped off when I removed my centre console, they were that secure!

My current ones on the M console need glue... They are definitely not a tight fit.... I've got a few spares, maybe I'll try some of them...

They are clearly designed to grab the fascia. I'll bet the distance between the insides of opposite clips is just under 54mm.

Aircon / climate control chromed bezels.
The accurate measurement between the inside of opposite clips is 57.5mm. The accurate measurement of the hole size these aircon bezels fit into is 60mm. The accurate measurement from the outside to outside of opposite clips is 60.7mm... and the accurate measurement of the width of the groove between the lip of the clip and the face of the bezel which rests against the facia is 1.2mm.. The thickness of the plastic which fits into the clip groove is 1.1mm... and finally, the OD of the bezel is 62mm.
That should provide you with all the required dimensions to establish suitability...

So there seems to be a lot of variation.
The ID of my 3 holes of each of the holes in the fascia is just 53.5mm. You claim to have near 60 and some have claimed close to 50. Vendors seem to sell 50,53,54 & 60mm options - so they all seem to exist.

If you have any chrome rings from a pre-facelift dash (50-52mm), I will have them.
FYI the size of these rings do vary in diameter. I bought some for my 1997 pre facelift from the same dash as listed here and they don't fit. These measure approx 54mm dia and my dials are 50-52mm dia. I've tried smashing them in and it ain't happening!

Designed or not designed, that is the question.

sounds like you've got the same as me. If your dash looks as below (pre-facelift) - You'll need the 52mm dia rings to fit and the only place I can find them in on ebay. At £21 delivered, they're not cheap but will make a big difference I think. follow this link... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Z3-1995-2 ... 4604520777
