cat d z3 for sale

Post by bigchap39 »

bought car couple of years back to quickly do up but never got round to it till tail end of last year and then when tried to sell found out was a cat d of punter who was buying it.
I spent over £1200 on it before I found out which I should have checked but you win you loose.

I replaced the hood, radiator, front wishbones, front wishbone bushes, steering arms, track rod ends, bottom ball joints,front/rear anti roll bar links, tyres, wheels painted, new blue tooth stereo, front fog lamps, battery, serviced all this before I found out so as can imagine making a total lose on the car.
I have owned for nearly 2 years in that time and its sat in the garage till fixed up last year.
By the looks of it cat d due to light front end damage as had bonnet and bumper replaced(not buy me).

The car is moted till oct 2014,no tax,has full bmw service history, only done 83 thousand miles(about 100 in 2 years ive had).
So due to cat d and just wanting ride now as cant get the money i want for it its up for sale at £1650.
Really is a stunning looking wee car and drives fine.
Jobs left to do are needs passanger wing mirror painted as only did drivers side but paint there to do it.
New front callipers and pads there for it but need fitted.
I also have a set of 18" wheels for it that need a refurb at extra cost of £80 ontop of £1650 if you want also.
Surely car is worth this even if a catd?

call if interested and car is also on gumtree 07725026688
cheers

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..

You may have spent more on it and it may have been repaired properly, but having a CAT rating will scare 99% of potential buyers off.

But if you tell people what you know of its history and emphasise the positive, then I'm sure you will eventually find a good home for it.

You're right but I'm already elbow deep in Z3s, no space for another one, despite my constant for sale threads, I do have a proper job!

Lovely looking car, good luck with the sale.

Where are you based by the way

My advise... be confident and advertise it... Cat D means nothing - just means that the insurance wrote it off because it wasn't worth it at the time. This car has changed and is now re-born.

Advertise it as perfect - which it looks from the pics, be honest and it will sell.

Would be a shame to break the car for parts. New hood, lots of mechanical renovation, straight bodywork and a desirable 6 pot engine hardly worn-in with just 83,000 miles. If I was in the market for another Z3 I'd buy it off you. Can't see that the Cat D thing is especially significant on a sub £1,700 car being kept mainly for summer fun! :)

Del, you are absolutely right - it is a lovely car. However the seats would be just as lovely in my Zed ;)

Looking at your picture, it's next to a black Audi or a silver Z3

It depends when it was Cat D'd. If it was recently, I agree. If it was done 10 years ago, that's MUCH more serious.

OP, do you know when it was Cat D'd?

£900 worth of damage at dealer rates is negligible, so it would have been slight. Much more wouldn't have been repaired by previous owner.

Right had enough of all the 800 quid offers or swap for puntos on gumtree so have decided car is going to be broken over the coming weeks.
Will start with stuff easily removed as still want to keep it movable in the drive.

steering rack with new arms and track rod ends
front wishbones both new
front callipers both new
front pads brand new.

Hooray :squeeze:
It was painful to see this go to the graveyard!
Someone got the deal of a lifetime. The halo fogs, windblocker and Tan Tonneau are together worth more than 200 quid.
