Studs behind roll hoops

Post by Thesurveyor »

So, there are two studs screwed into the plastic behind the roll hoops that are designed to hold the tonneau in position but they need to be extended if you want to use the OEM mesh wind deflector as well. BMW did make a kit to do this but not any more. Does anyone have a pair of the longer studs with the little metal tubes that they can sell me please? Cheers

Search for tenax fasteners on ebay - they are cheaper than that usually - I bought some last year for mine. they didnt have the sleeve like the one in the picture but I improvised by putting a couple of small nuts on the thread up to the head to allow the width of the wind deflector to pass over. (otherwise the head of the fastener does not protrude far enough out through the wind deflector to get the fastening lock stud on it)
Here come the girls.....

Thanks, I have ordered them from the nice German chap. He sends out the goods then sends you an invoice and asks you to pay as soon as possible!!
Makes a nice change from cash up front.

After some searching and links from the above members I also found Woolies Trim Co who specialist in all bits for trim on classic and vintage.
Quite a useful source I hope.

Be careful with these longer fasteners as I found they left welts in the rear screen, as the roof lowers & the screen folds it came into contact with them-the old screen had a vertical split that lined up exactly!
