These calipers have been professionally machined to allow fitment under the stock 17" wheel, the machining work was carried out by pro-calipers (Addiction Motorsport). The pistons/seals were also checked and given a clean bill of health at this time.

The kit comprises of the following items: -

2 x Porsche (Brembo) Front Brake Caliper (996 351 425 & 996 351 426)

1 x Set Ferodo Brake Pads (FRP3051H), Brand new cost £100.00ex VAT

1 x Set HEL Stainless Steel Brake Hoses, Brand new cost £42.00ex VAT

You will need the following to complete the set.

1 x Set Porsche Caliper Adaptors (ebay item number 151071925792)

1 x Set Brake Discs 325mm x 28mm

The lacquer is missing on the caliper faces where the Porsche logo was.

Any questions please ask.

Chris,

I think they could fit with a bit of fettling, I wanted a fairly simple bolt on option and thought it would be after hours of trawling the internet searching for info, unfortunately it did not work out that way. The two main reasons I did not fit them were: -

1. The front kingpin on non ///M cars is different to ///M cars, Not only do they have a different Castor set up but they also have a different offset value. I would need to run a 12mm Spacer to clear the caliper, with a 12mm Spacer fitted the wheel is proud of the bodywork. I dare say swapping over to ///M kingpins or buying a specific set of wheels would solve this but I wanted to keep my 78s.

2. Fitting the calipers would mean an increase in overall caliper piston size. The increase in piston size would then change the brake bias, either the brake master cylinder would need to be adjusted or changed, this was not a job for me.

It is a real shame as I have searched for a decent BBK for the 3.0 but have not found anything that will fit with stock 17"s.

Cheers

Here's the website for a local SA company which I used for the kit I fitted to my 2.8. They are extremely well made and seriously good kits... For Non M Z3's you can go to 330mm x 32mm discs with a 4 pot caliper PB42E or a 4 pot in the PB44L kit with separate pads per pot..
I have copied the link to the page which lists the car brands.scroll down to BMW / Z3 Non M....

Thanks Barry,

When fitted to your 2.8 did your brake pedal feel the same?

I used the slotted discs and found the brake quality to be hugely better... the pedal didn't require as much pressure as with smooth discs. I did replace the rear discs for slotted discs too, but didn't change the OEM callipers there. Fronts were 2 pot callipers with slotted discs. The stopping power was improved without requiring a change to the booster or any other part of the system except for the 4 brake hoses at the wheels where I fitted steel braided hoses.

PS.... I covered over 50,000 kms with those discs, and sold the 2.8 with the same discs fitted... I didn't use any "special" race pads or pads specifically recommended for racing... just standard OEM stuff from Meyle. The pads were replaced at about 50 - 60% wear as a matter of choice - not requirement.
