For hoopless wind deflectors of this type, there are two versions. One has the mounting pins 70cm apart and the other 75cm apart. It would help potential buyers a lot if you could state which it is and whether it came off a pre- or post-facelift car.

The fixings are under the trim and you need them to install it on a car that hasn't had one fitted previously.

Cheers R.

I actually think the non hoop wind deflectors versions are better, and more professional looking than the hooped zipped versions

It would be worth having a shot of the bottom of the "legs" of the deflector as my car had one when I bought it. The dealer tried to claim it was "easy to fit" by simply lifting it out of the holes in the trim.. of course I wasn't having that and if you looked more closely at the deflector you could see the legs were too short and some kind of screw had snapped off within the top half of each leg of the deflector and that's why it wasn't attached properly. The way the screws had snapped made the deflector essentially useless as it could no longer be fitted to an undamaged set of fixings.

When I recently fitted roll hoops I removed the deflector fixings as part of the job and predictably the other half of the snapped legs/screws dropped out of each of them! Maybe this is fairly common and if they aren't treated properly there is a weak point that can give - something to watch out for though!

what is missing here? -

The brackets that it fits into (unless your car has had one previously fitted and the brackets were not removed)

will i need to order more? -

As above

Sorry it would not let me attach images (Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached) to this post so if you send me your email address I can send you the instruction manual (pdf) with all the parts required and a picture of the whole kit.

I agree with bertiejaffa - this oem version is a lot more professional looking than the zipped version.

If you need any more information I fitted one last summer which was reasonably easy although the car interior was stripped out at the time (which was not pretty easy!).

The legs on that deflector look good at a glance, mine were broken at the ridge halfway down the leg.

You can get a feel for the brackets etc. required here http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showpar ... Id=03_2688

The other thing I'm not sure about are the holes in the rear trim for the deflector to slide into; I've seen some with a proper factory opening fitted, and others just drilled through, unsure if it's a pre/post facelift thing or whether some people simply didn't change the trim and decided it was easier to just make their own holes.

Well, I think I have the full set.

Not sure the holes drilled in the trim are factory done or not, but the brackets are in place, just like the RealOEM link above.

Cheers

Andy
