Where can I buy 98 octane fuel?

Tyres, exhausts, suspension, strut braces, air filters, brake pads/rotors and anything else for 'dawn raiders'.

Where can I buy 98 octane fuel?

Post by Clivebse »

As the title says, does anyone know where 98 fuel can be bought?
Bp is only 97 and no one seems to put rating on anymore?
Thanks

Why do you need it? I am getting sometimes 95 and sometimes 98 octane (not a problem in our country), but I haven't seen any improvement in 98. Sometimes I even feel the opposite, but that might be subjective feeling. I believe that's because of ECU timing adjustments for 92-95 fuel on z3. Maybe some chip tuning would help with that.

Thanks guys.

I know years ago tesco was 99 but now it doesn't say.

Does it make difference, yes it does and it's not about timing.....

If Wikipedia is to be believed, Shell V-Power varies from country to country, but in the UK it is 99 RON. It doesn't mention Nitro+ on there, but I doubt it will be any lower. I run both my cars on it anyway.

I solely use v-power nitro which is 99 octane

I live in Manchester and shell seem to have the market here so it's always the closest garage to me.

I've no idea whether it offers any advantage over Tesco's which I believe is the only other easily available 99 but I don't know where the nearest Tesco is anyway.

I could probably do just fine on the 97 you get at BP, Esso etc but I've been a sucker to Shell's branding and I wouldn't put anything else in these days

Also, my Granddad works in chemical engineering and has done some number crunching and convinced me that the extra mpg you gain from 99 is cheaper in the long run than 95 stuff.

Having said that, the way I drive the difference between 18mpg and 19mpg for a 100 mile drive is pretty much irrelevant!

Only ever used V power in all cars as a rule for last 14 years but the odd times I have to use 95 I can't tell the difference to be honest.

V Power is supposed to have better cleaning properties as well as 98 octane! Any one had the hydraclean process carried out on their Z3? If so what did you think of it?

I use BP Momentum in the MR and CSL, the acceleration is noticeable.

What really gets my goat is paying 13p/litre extra over normal unleaded.
