Inlet Manifold - right one for a mod?
Inlet Manifold - right one for a mod?
Hi gents - would any of you performance modders care to take a gander at the following ebay link?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-M54-INLET-MAN ... 500wt_1154
Item is: 180537672285
Is this the right manifold for my 2.8 Z3 (2000) to do the intake mod?
Appreciate you looking (but not bidding )
Steve

It's not, unless this is some mod I haven't heard of. I'm assuming your engine is the M52B28, if it's the TU version I don't know if it works or not.
What you need is an M50B25 intake manifold from an e36 325 or an e34 525. I have heard talk of there being a difference between the early/late ones.
Then you need to make a change to the pipes under the manifold, a few spacers and you're away. There's plenty of proper write ups on the web.
I did this mod to my old e36 323 with a BBTB too, it was a good mod

Is your 2000 2.8 the single vanos or twin vanos version? If the inlet manifold is currently 'curved' then you have the single vanos version, in which case you need an E36 M50 2.5 inlet manifold.
If your car is twin-vanos you'll need to source a Z3/E46 M54 3.0 inlet manifold.
In both cases you'll need specially CNC'd adapter plates.

Thanks to all for taking the time to add valuable info. After a bit more research I now know the difference between a single and double vanos. But right now I've no idea what I actually have. Although registered in Feb 2000, the car was built in Jul '99 - so I am suspecting it is the single.
I probably need to dig around a bit and even take of the manifold and record numbers etc.
Guess I wont be bidding just yet!
Thanks again.

That manifold looks like the correct one for your car - see what I did in http://www.zroadster.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9384 for further information.
My Z3 was made in Jan 99 and is M52TU so yours definitely is.
Go for it and good luck!!!
