Fifth Gear

Post by Boysie »

Just watched Fifth gear
Very interesting, they were checking if you can regain the cars Horsepower to original spec
The car was old but in good condition, say 15-20years, an early quick VW Vr6 ?

Original spec stated 190hp
Tested now 177hp on rolling road, they put it on the road after every stage

Added Redex injection cleaner, added 8hp
Changed oil and new air filters, added 2-3hp
new plugs and HT leads, added 4-5hp
they got it back to 197hp

At the cost of approx. £300

I was amazed I might have the exact amounts wrong but the final figures were brilliant
He said just adding the injection would be enough to make a difference

I'm always quite tempted to try TerraClean after seeing it on Wheeler Dealers http://www.terraclean.co.uk/

Has anyone tried it?

I have recently used cataclean, a recommended fuel / cat cleaner, add to 15l fuel and drive! costs £15 from halfords and recommended by several mags. must admit car does "feel" nippier and more responsive :D
