Considering 2 litres of Halfords brand 5w40 fully synth is £15.99 (£7.99/litre):

And 5 litres of the good stuff is £37 (£7.40/litre):

£10/litre for Halfords own brand doesn't seem like a very good deal!

Edit: The OP has now been edited so this isn't as relevant as before.

Link to the actual item for the Triple QX - http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/p/car-a ... &0&cc5_248

At £2.49/litre I think you win with that one! Does anyone have any experience with this brand? I've never heard of it - if it's any good I'll be getting 10L of that!

Currently have it in my Z3 sump and have used it in other family cars over the past couple of years. I’ve always looked after my engines (brand new or old, over 40-years of car ownership) with regular oil/filter changes (at least annually) and never had an engine pack up on me. I look at the technical ratings and specification and this oil is approved by BMW and has the most recent SN rating for internal engine cleanliness. It’s been discussed on other forums, but Euro Car Parts wouldn’t disclose the maker.

In the past I’ve also used Tesco FS 5W/40 which comes in similar 2 & 4 litre containers to Castrol. Some people get more peace of mind using Castrol or Mobil at £50 per bottle which is fair enough – it’s a free world. They’re all better that the obsolete engine oil specifications recommended in my 1998 Z3 handbook.

I think he means this deal:
which is £10 for 4 litres, not 1 litre. Really, these things are important to get correct if you are going to the trouble of posting it.
Halfords deal

BMW LLO1 variant 5W/30. I use it on mine and it got rid of my tappet noise when I first bought the car.

Now edited I see... :D

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..
