First job before you jack up the car is to get at the top of the shock behind the seats. Just peel back the lining to expose the top of the shock. You will only need to pop out one of the push-in fixings to do this.
.
Next remove the rubber cap (just so you don't have to struggle with it when the shock is free).
Undo the two fixing nuts and remove them. The shock won't go anywhere for now. Next you can jack up the rear of the car. This will allow the shock mount to come away from the inside of the wheel arch.
Now you need to undo the lower shock fixing bolt. A squirt of WD40 is helpful here although mine were easy enough.
With that bolt out the shock can be removed. Don't forget to remove the old gasket from the inside of the wheel arch and clean the area to allow a good seal when re-fitting. With the shock in a vice gripping the flats machined on the end of the push-rod you can now remove the mount fixing nut.
This then allows the removal of the old shock mount. Here are a couple of shots of the split drivers side mount.
You can now fit the new mount (in the reverse order of the removal process
Offer this up the the car and fit the bottom fixing bolt (torque this to 77Nm)
Refit the wheel, lower the car off the jack and tighten the two mount fixing nuts inside the cabin. Refit the rubber cap and replace the lining. Repeat for the other side and job done. Here is how the passenger side mount came out
