Z3 Boot Release

Post by stu » Sun 22 Feb, 2009 09:38

There's a small part that can fail, which will leave the boot unable to be opened from the outside.

If you have this problem, PM me for the method of boot entry.

Due to the sensitive and security related nature of this fix, it will not be published.

It is requested that the fix is not divulged until we're sure its for a genuine owner with a Z3 boot lock failure!

Does this method of opening the boot work even if the car is locked then?

However, the method mentioned does not take into account the different shape boot of the M roadster.
Im working on a slightly different method for the M. I will PM the moderators with my results. (if it works)

I believe it works on M cars, Garzza has just been sent the instructions I have and I believe it works if the boot is locked, but again can't confirm 100%.

You'd have to think BMW have to provide a way in without angle grinder/hydraulic rams though, wouldn't you?

Mod Edit - name change
