I think this would have to be my choice. The lines, the poise, the power. Turn up in this and the world is your oyster.

I spent most of my money on whisky, women and Z3's. The rest I just wasted.

I thought these were supposed to be "within reason". DB9 would have my vote every time outside of reason.

I read that JCB landspeed diesel thing hit 350mph on its second run?

Im fancying an Ultima self build - 400+hp and 900kg for £30k. A guy at work has just built one. An entirely practical way to die smiling

If the lotto delivers then Zonda time. Got overtaken by one last time in Italy with a SL55AMG following him  . The deisel Focus hire car couldnt keep up.

I wouldn't want to get rid of the "M" and don't plan to get rid of it if all goes to plan, but would love a Noble as well. Other than that a 911 of some sort.

this model costs around the same as my z3 now, but it's just the age and servicing etc that worries me. i hope to have one at some point when i am in a better financial situation or could even afford 2 cars!

Paul - I've seen the SRT, someone in town has one, personally I don't get the truck thing. I'm not a builder and don't need an open back truck, even with that engine, nice noise though.

I think a 4-5 yr old 996 turbo, 60K will get a good un.

For those of you with M's - bugger all comes close for the money, you have to spend a lot more money to get a significant leap in performance, I'd just supercharge my M.

I notice some of you are cheating - Paul said sensible money - Pagani?

There are certainly faster things out there for similar money, but you either have to put up with poor reliability (TVR Tuscan) or something very impractical (Caterham R300/ R400/ R500). Then there are the souless Jap crap cars such as the Mits EVO FQ340. All faster than the Z but not sure I could replace the M with one :| (although the >02 Tuscans are supposed to be much better than the earlier ones and an FQ340 might be a lot of fun over winter!!)

My wife sold her MX-5 last week because she says we can't justify 2 convertibles and she's fallen in love with our new Fiesta 1.4 turbodiesel.
Having said that we've done 2,000 miles in 5 weeks just running around in it and 52mpg with adequate performance and aircin ain't half bad :colourful: :colourful:

An Elise, in fact I'm on the hunt for one at the moment.

I'm assuming you're 5'10" or shorter then.

5'10" but the ones I've been in I've had to move the seat forward a bit, must have short legs

One of my friends has just got rid of his mk1 elise.

I drove it and found i didn't have the seat fully back - the pedals are well in - but my head brushed the rag top. I'm 6'2".

It's just too impractical, and whilst it does everything it's meant to do - and is great on a track - just the leaks, the lack of a 'real' boot, the noise, the indignity when climbing in and out when the roofs on, was enough to sell it after 1 year.

The mk2 may be slightly different - i know it's heavier - but it's unlikely to change my mind about owning one. Keep my Z thanks

He's got a 5 series now - a bit of a change

I've got a brand new Elise as a hire car while mine's been repaired, its fun and it goes round corners like mad, but I'd never trade the M for one.

Some inconsiderate prick parked their car half a foot off the drivers door yesterday at the local Tesco carpark... I had to roll the side of the roof up and climb in that way.

If I had paper and a biro I'd leave them a note!
