If the time came when you had to get rid of the BMW, or *gulp* deicded to change car. What would you like?

Everyone can say - Lamborghini this or the other etc etc, but been realistic.

For me it would have to be one of these -

I have replaced each of my BMW's with another BMW. I honestly can't see what I'd replace the Z1 with, other than perhaps an Alpina RLE.

I'd get bored dragging three tons of iron around driving in the form of a truck. Albeit a handsome one.

But this would suit me Sir.

My list to date;

Caterham 7 with turbo'd busa motor
E90 3 Touring with V10 Hartge transplant (& towhook for the horsebox)
RS4 Cab
E46 CSL (supercharged of course - in BLACK)
Gallardo Spider

Not sure we'd ever sell the Z though, my 12 year old daughter wants it!

I think it would be a 911, was looking at a 911 (964 C4) on ebay but it sold before the end of the auction.

Good question and I guess we all ponder it. Browsing the cars at the recent Goodwood Breakfast Club meeting and wondering which car would I choose as a replacement for my zed, this is what I came up with.

I really liked Robins choice, but with money in hand which would he choose?

A friend of mine is fortunate to have 2002 SL55, a 1992 Ferrari 348TS and a 1957 Corvette, the car he would NOT sell is the Corvette.

If I was sticking to sports cars, then it would probably be a TVR Sagaris. It's the sexiest car I've seen in a long while. 8-)

I anticipate a time when a F355 will be feasable at some point in the future.
Meantime a 966 would suffice nicely If I sold the ///M.

I used to drool as I went past the local Ferrari dealer when they had a 355 Spider in the window. Probably wouldn't be able to live with it every day though - but as a second (or third) car it would be nice. Guy I used to work for used to race his 348... and use it as his everyday roadcar!

But as I'm unlikely to be able to afford two cars (for me) in the near future, I'd say it would have to be another BM, but this time with a straight six. Not altogether sure about the Z4 - I test drove a 3.0L and quite liked it - but it somehow doesn't have the same appeal of the Z3. Think I'll hang on to mine and see whether some of the new Zs come to fruition.

Difficult isn't it. I always feel I have to move onwards and upwards and that means more than 325bhp and the other side of 250bhp / tonne. There ain't much around for sensible money.

I think I would quite like the new RS4, in two or three years time it might just scrape into budget. Love the look of the new SLK55 AMG Black series but be quite a few years before that can be had for under £30K... :?

Exactly my dillema.

It would have to be faster or equall to what I have now... and as you've said, you're starting to talk big bucks from here onwards.

The ram is an 8.3 litre Viper engine, so 0-60 is in the 5.7 second region :) Apparently, if you LPG them, it doesn't cost much more than what I pay now with the ///M, its just a question of how long will LPG remain cheap?

'Cos having driven Nemesis at Croft and at Bruntingthorpe, I seriously believe that the CSL chassis (especially with Cup tyres on) could easily handle more torque/power, without any significant upgrades (poss brakes/clutch) or negative impact on balance etc..

I love that car and if Giles (or any other nutty owners would permit), I'd show you how good it is.

Gi, do you have that 'sideways' video footage from Brunters?

. . . bearing in mind I have just gotten rid of a 911 to go back to Z3 M ownership + I also ride a VERY VERY sexy Ducati 999s - I am absolutely not sure.

My 3 x M Roadsters have really "done it" for me - cant imagine being in anything else - maybe a V8 Z4 M Coupe - when it arrives with SMG III of course!!!

Maybe a few of us have this in common. I've been thinking E46 M3, or spending the extra and buying a 98/99 911.

I would have to agree, my current choices are 3.0 Z4, or Boxster 3.2S or 911 (996) Cabrio.

But everytime I walk up to the Z3 I must admit that the curves do look good. Though I do have a friend who has said that they would buy the Z3 off me the moment they have enough cash.... we'll see what the future brings.

It would be nother Beema for me, which one depends on circumstances - possibly a Z4 or one of the new 335 coupe or if there is a little one on the way by that time, then maybe a 4 door or X3/5!

Unless of course I win the lottery in which case it'd be something completely mad and unpractical!!......Damn, just remembered, I HAVE to play the lotto inorder to have a chance of winning it, oh well another Beema it is then :D

It would depend on my mood and need at the time.

I have something of a soft spot for the Morgan Aero 8 (20s styling)

A TVR appeals to the nutter in me and the M roadster would be comfortably familiar with a sizeable power hike.

Just hope I don't need a 4 seater any time soon :?

I know what I don't want and that is a boxster. A mate up the road just bought one,but my Z3-3litre looks twice as nice.It has the same top speed too.
I like the Lambo Murcelargo(I think that is how it is spelt). It is less practical than the Z3,but the shape and performance is awesome. Dream on

The retro styling of the Morgan reminds me of this Wiesmann.
Who could you possibly not want one, if only to stand & look at it all day :)
Oh well at least I pretty much already have whats under the skin of it in the ///M, I believe.

had discussed swapping the zed with a gut at work for his X-type jag, you know sensible 4 seats big boot and all that. mentioned it top the wife and poo pooed the idea of buying a sensible car saying that I would regret it and just moan about missing the zed.

I can tell you what I wouldn't buy, thats a Ferrari 250 GTO!
I was very lucky to drive one about 3 weeks ago. I was at a party with my wife and the owner of the car had had far too much to drink and she talked him into letting us have the keys. Well, he forced the keys upon us and told us to take it for a spin.

2 hours later we asked him how much it was worth, well, he replied it cost him "6", I thought 60,000 that a lot! Then the day after I looked it up... I didn't realise he meant £6million!!!

Something to tick off the list of things to do in my life.
But honestly, it wasn't very good, it smelt of petrol really badly, the headlights were rubbish and the gear box was very wobbly.
Oh and after I drove around the field in the dark it probably needs a new exhaust silencer :?

Mind you it looks lovely.

Mine would have to be the M3 CSL, after driving my friends round the Nurburgring and being taken round in one in 8mins 23sec, by a guy with only the use of 1 arm, which was utterly amazing, this car is awesome.

For the money there is no better car out there IMO.

I was hoping to one day own one but with only 422 made in right hand drive and the time scale I'll be looking at, I think there value will be rising by the time I'll be able to afford one.

For me.. one of three...

Either last of the NSX Hondas... a business colleague of mine has a 2004 3.2 nsx and whilst it is not the fastest thing for the money.(slightly quicker than the z3m's). and yes the interior is "jap plastic" .. boy is it one fun car on the twisty stuff... sticks like a go kart on a racetrack! oh and imho it is drop dead gorgeous.... even the engine makes a good noise when you fish around the gears and press the noise pedal hard...

or..

An ultima GTR.. .. grrrr.. a bit Kit car.. but soooo quick and pretty.....

or final choice but WAY too expensive...

De Tamaso Pantera GT5s.. if only i had 75grand to waste on an unreliable old motor... i would..
