Z Roadster Moderation - NeRo’s resignation letter

Z Roadster Moderation - NeRo’s resignation letter

I have been asked today by Tim (Zmeagol) to consider my position as a Moderator on both Zed-Cars and ZRoadster and to choose one.
It is with sad regret that I have decided to resign as a ZRoadster Moderator.
Note - Zed-Cars have not put me in this position
Neil

I'm uneasy over the situation with you as moderator on both zroadster and zed-cars. Given the state of affairs between the two boards, I think you need to consider your position.

I'm quite happy for you to continue as a moderator on zroadster if you relinquish your position on zed-cars. Equally, should you would prefer to continue as moderator on zed-cars I should be obliged if you would resign the position here.

With kind regards
Tim
Having seen both sides of the recent discussion, at Moderator level, about cross posting of events the choice has been made very easy for me. Whereas on Zed-Cars we discussed the matter amongst the Steering Team and replied to Tim with a unified response and closed the matter, Zroadster moderators (not all I may add) have tried to dictate how Zed-Cars run their forum, they’ve poured scorn on how Zed-Cars organize/manage things e.g. registered access, the Steering Committee etc. There have also been some posts, in the closed area, which the content has disgusted me, which I won’t divulge. Rather than concentrating on running the forum, they continue to discuss the same old, day in, day out!
A number of you have correctly picked up on the undercurrents, but I’ll leave the rest of you to draw your own conclusions!

I also find it hypocritical that I have been asked to choose, whilst Giles and Spokey are also Moderators on yet another rival Z forum. Will they be given this ultimatum?

I take my moderating responsibilities very seriously and treat each forum separately and abide by that forum’s rules with impartiality. I have enjoyed my time moderating and hope I have contributed to the running of the forum. I always like to put something back into things I join.

I have been a member of ZRoadster for about 5 years and whilst not a prolific poster, I’ve tried to provide quality over quantity posts.

I have made a lot of “Forum Friends” whom I love to meet up with at the various Forum and Car Club meets. It has made the ownership of my Z3 so much more pleasurable and I’ve been to places I wouldn’t have thought of going to.

I also attend a lot of Car Shows in Scotland and the Zed attracts a lot of attention – so as well as promoting the BMWCC and the Z Register, I also point people to ZRoadster for more information, as I felt it was the best site for Z3 specific info.

I am/was a committee member of the BMWCC Z Register, of which this forum is supposed to be the preferred forum. If I am still a committee member please accept this as my resignation from that committee also – if not, then I won’t stand for election when the time comes.

(Apologies to Phil Rosenbloom, your current Chairman, for this action – I hope you get behind him and support the Register.)

Without prejudice.

Neil

Note – As my decision also affects Zed-Cars, this will also be posted on there.

Good for you. moderators aren't paid for the work they do and I'd be damned if I let someone dictate how I spent my free time.

Speaking purely for myself, if I felt that there was a conflict of interest, I wouldn't need Tim to give me an ultimatum.

However, z4-forum is a) open and does not require registration to read what is going on, b) completely different in its target audience and c) completely different in what it's about, being far closer in spirit to z4um than zroadster. I doubt there is a significant overlap in membership between z4-forum and either of zed-cars or zroadster.

I also need to point out that your decision to resign as a moderator has no impact on your fitness to stand for office in the Z Register -- they are two entirely separate roles. It sounds to me that you may feel that you wish to leave zroadster entirely, but there is no reason for you to do so. Resigning from being a moderator does not preclude you being a normal member of this forum, and it has no bearing whatsoever on your relationship with the BMW Car Club or the Z Register.

I guess Neil didn't think there was a conflict of interest then!

Even if there is an overlap, can people not be members of and contribute to all three? If not, why not?

There is no reason why people cannot be members of all three and contribute to all three. Indeed, I am registered with all three. (OK, so I don't contribute to zed-cars, but that's not my fault.)

I apologise in advance if I've missed something glaringly obvious and terrible, and, as a relative newbie don't want to write out of turn, but from reading this thread, and the other one, all I can say is, get a grip everyone: there are far more important issues going on in the world than this, if not in your own lives.

These are just websites after all. Not really that important surely?

Now, who wants to buy my house?

This stinks!

I've known Nero for almost 4 years, and I respect what he has done for the community. He is always impartial when it came to multiple forums. So I see no need at all why he couldn't moderate on both.

This is the kind of big headed, mindless, ego building bull sh*t that has put me off contributing to forum life.

Tim, a very very poor thing to do. Hang your head in shame. Regardless of the inter forum cr*p going on at the moment, there was no need to question Nero's integrity.

Conflict of interest? Give me a break. :head:

Being asked to relinquish the responsibility on one of the fora he moderates, and enjoys moderating (why else would he moderate?), due to the conflict of others around him that has nothing of interest to him, and in the process of doing so, question his integrity. I would say thats a good enough reason for Nero to be turning his back on this forum and contributing solely to zed-cars if he chose to.

I'm sure he forgot to include a " " at the end.

An honest mistake

Nero,

Sorry to hear you have been pushed into this.

Conflict of Interest??? :dunce: For F**KS Sake.

Its a F**king forum not a F**king Paliament. :head: :head:

Someone mentioned Zed-Cars were using the links to steal our members. I think you guys are doing a mighty fine job of losing members yourself.

Now, whats Zed-Cars web address??

From the 'locked' thread on zed-cars....

NeRo
I have been put in a position where I have had to resign as a Moderator on zroadster.
The following is the complete text that I have posted and I have posted it here for information only.

We have better things to do on Zed-Cars than go over the past, so I have locked this thread and don't want any public discussion on here about it. The link to zroadster is click here

A couple of points here -

You did not HAVE to resign as a Mod on ZR - you chose that option.

'We have better things to do on Zed-Cars' - clearly so, such as locking the thread and not allowing any discussion, whereas you were happy to air your dirty laundry on ZRoadster to encourage dissent here.

I think you may have come to the best decision, considering your allegiences.

In the interests of fairness, I am locking this thread also.
In God We Trust - everyone else gets PNC'd.
