hmmm...
I wonder why they've advertised it as a 3.0?
Oh wait, I know, its because its for sale by the retards at Evans Halshaw!
Certainly looks like an M///...very cheap! totally the wrong time of year, and advertised as a different car!
BTW...can anyone hazard a guess at the percentage of M///'s which were made in Estoril? Seems to be a very popular colour!

Yep, looks like they have priced as a 3 litre.
What a bargain if you can get away with it for that price (or less with haggling?)
Seems to have later S54 shadow chrome alloys as well.
Wear to drivers seat but easy fix so long as no rips.
Hardtop / fitting kit would be worth £750 to an Estoril ///M owner if you bought it and sold those on

Only 42 miles from me BUT just leaving for Liverpool as we've got a 7am flight tomorrow so booked a hotel within walking distance of the terminal as we didn't want to risk leaving at 4am to drive across the Pennines.
Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to all.
Will check if it's still there when we get back as my wife is back at work next week so Ive got to amuse myself somehow.

Just phoned and the car is actually at Motorhouse and was going to auction today as nobody as shown any interest in it. Just wonder how low an offer they will accept ':)G2JRP wrote:Go on, it would be nice to know if it is the bargin we all think it is?
You never know you might be tempted yourself!!!!
Unfortunately they close at lunchtime today so I've had to book a test drive for Saturday '
Fingers crossed that Mrs ZC will a) fancy a trip to Lincoln; and b) be persuaded that you can never have too many cars - well her favourite saying is "a woman can never have too many shoes and handbags"

Zed Carer, this could be an absolute steel so long as HPI clear (ie no accident damage recorded) and boot welds / VANOS OK.
(nb even noisy vanos would be worth it as you could us Dr Vanos replacement )
If they put to auction I bet the reserve is something like £4k
Good luck, if genuine misell = great start to the year

Nice and dry here today and +2 deg so got the Z3 out for the first time in 4 weeks and went for a nice hood down 60 mile run. Mixture of m'way, A Roads and some local country lanes big grin all the way. '
Did get some funny looks on the A1 but they don't know what they're missing
Just can't see me ever selling the Silver Z3 - need a bigger garage

Just been for a run out in frog seeing as though it has not moved a wheel for a few weeks - was a bit reluctant to start, but by god it loves the cold air - it was wanting to have a race with an arse in a cockster - had to forcibly slow it down to let the porker past.
Caught a glimpse of an orange spitfire or old TVR at the lights sans roof - was too much like flying helmet weather for me and I had the roof up. I did see an Audi sans roof in Kendal the other day - with snow on the ground!
Cheers R.

Too much snow
Did set off to Lincoln today but snowing quite heavily the further south I went so stopped at the A1/A57 services and phoned the dealer to be told that it was snowing heavily there as well. So will try again tomorrow.

Zm for £6000
Hi-happy new year to you all
Re; the ZM on sale at Evans Halshaw
We managed a visit to Lincoln cathedral yesterday and despite some areas currently closed for renovation great day out. Following all the comments and high expectations of the car we visited the dealer (Motorhouse Trade Sales ) and viewed the BMW.
Points noticed from a very quick inspection;
A.All 4 wheels badly scuffed and laquer peeling. Previous poor repaint.
B.Interior very worn and both seats ,carpets etc scuffed or torn.
C.Interior was filthy and damp-door pockets had snow in them(may have had windows left open)
D.Last service in book was at 45'000 miles
E. All books and instructions strewn on floor and damp-no folders.
F.Vanos internal gears noisy but not excessive.
G. Very few tools and hardtop tool missing
H. No sign of emergency tyre inflating equ.
I. Cannot comment on body other than lots of chips on nose panel as
car covered in frst/snow. The guy did throw a bucket of warm water
over it but still unable to comment
J. Airbag warning light on dash
I would value at well less than advertised price and as previously stated
this is a trade seller. They would I'm sure take £5500-but not for me.
Hope this helps but as the saying goes"You only get what you pay
for" !!

Canman, you've hit the nail on the head. The best bargains are often the "untidy" ones but mechanically sound.
Its amazing what you could do cosmetically for £1,000.
If you could pick this car up for £5kish, you could spend £1k on it cosmetically and still have a real bargain
I don't mind dealers doing this as its their profit they are throwing away
Fair enough if you want a minter, you can pay £8-9k and get one but even paying £7.5k for a private sale you would probably need some wheel refurb and stone chips. Remember its the same cost to refurb a pretty untidy tire as one with just a few scuffs
If you could get 3 month warranty this would defo be the type of car I would be interested in as a summer project to tidy up (ie I'm no good at mechanicals but love playing around to improve cosmetics).
With a respray / retrim it could look like new
Remember the hardtop and fitting kit are worth £750 any day which if not needed could fund a lot of the work needed

Sounds like like a good project car to me so long as mechanically sound and no accident or body damage the rest can be rectified fairly easily with a little elbow grease
You could go for this one up for sale near to me at 5k more, same year

Finally got to Lincoln today so just to add some more detail to what johnwayne noticed:
First registered 01/06/99
Sold by Coopers of Reading in June 01 £23,688
Sold by Sherwood Restorations Feb 04 £16,750 mlg: 48,179.
The last two registered owners are female.
In addition to the service book there is a folder of receipts that included:
Vanos recall in Aug 02 plus updated seat (airbag) wiring loom and connectors.
Dec 04 new seat belt pre-tensioner fitted.
Oct 05 valve clearances mlg: 62,308
Now the more interesting ones:
Mar 03 rocker cover removed, engine inspected and exchange engine fitted FOC - this would have been at around 31K.
Dec 07 new door lock and actuator fitted plus new steering column lock assembly - stolen recovered?
Very quiet when starting from cold. Boot welds OK. Reasonable amount of tread on all tyres. But:
Rust on the end of the cills, severe corrosion to the door mirror bases, no radio code, Insp II due (overdue? as both the amber and red lights are on). Some minor paint blemishes but couldn't see any obvious dents or dings. When viewed from the from the front the bumper does not align equally at both sides with the bonnet - the n/s is flush but on the o/s the bumper is around 5mm further out creating a small step.
Evans Halshaw are now selling this as a "Runabout" so it will get a new MoT but only a 30 day (restricted) warranty on the engine and transmission for faults not caused by wear and tear.
To be fair when I mentioned the state of the wheels plus the cost of an Insp II the immediate response was that they could look to reducing it to around £5,700 - there original sticker was in the car at £8,491.
Unfortunately probably not for me either as it does need quite a bit of TLC and I've still got a list of jobs to do on Silver Z3 - also the HPI might be an issue as it could have been on a private plate at some point.

mmmmm I think this would have bene a great semi project car for someone but I think unfortunately we will see more ///M like this as they get older and their value "traded" in is not worth a dealer spending money on them to get them back to showroom condition
This may well yet go to someone at auction who will pick it up for a snip though
