Hi all,
I wanted to seek your unbiased views on fitting a BMW Performance carbon spoiler to my 1er, sorry its not the Zed but its already got a diddy spoiler
I posted a poll on babybmw but it keeps running along at 50/50 so I wandered what non 1 series owners think.
Spoiler sits ontop of the hatch, as a non 1er owner do you think it looks rubbish or pretty good?
pics on a white 3 door, mine is a 5 door in bluewater,
Cheers,
Tim.

that sounds a lot ...better off putting that money in your zeds tank
I don't normally like them when fitted on boot lids but on the top it looks ok

Buy a hardtop for the zed instead so it can make an appearance out of the garage in the winter months
Although if you really have to have it, I think it suits very nicely!

Hi!
You wrote exactely what I thought - too chav/boy racer...
A collegue and friend og mine said something very interesting today:
You don't decide when a painting is finished - the painting will tell you yourself - so my advice is- look at your car and "listen"...
Your 1-series looks very nice the way it is now!

I quite like it. There is a danger with this type of spoiler on a hatch that it will make it look like a shopping trolley handle, but I think it escapes that one.
My dad has something similar on his 1er coupe, though it fits flush with the boot lid. That and the 18" wheels are why we refer to it as the "pimp wagon".
It won't make it go any faster though...
Cheers R.

Am I allowed to respond if I'm an actual 1er owner
To be honest Tim I don't like it, I think it spoils the lines of the rear.I used to have something similar on my cooper works (it came with it from factory) and I never really liked that for the same reasons. But I guess thats why you've had mixed views on the 1er forum

5 door hatches don't need spoilers. If you were putting it on a quick 1er then you'd get away with it but on a regular model it looks like you're trying to make it look like the performance car it isn't IMO.
Plus, £640!!!! Do you put money on your fire when it gets a little cold?
Seduced by the zed side
How much?????? Doesn't do it for me and if you have to drill the bodywork to fit it, how much will you get back when you sell the car?TitanTim wrote:Cheers Jamezee, I'm worrying it might look too chav/boy racer etc, seems to be the consensus on the 1er forum, it costs £640 so want to make sure it will look good. I've fitted the carbon diffuser which looks great.Jamezee wrote:Pretty unobtrusive, looks fine to me

looks good on the 3 door with the bodykit,
The above picture is like a black dress on a slim blonde,
.....but are you putting the same dress on a fat lady with a blue rinse?
difficult to imagine on your 5 door which is blue, except for the following analogy:TitanTim wrote:pics on a white 3 door, mine is a 5 door in bluewater,

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..
Sorry I haven't got back sooner it was job promotion day
Really appreciate all your responses which are alot more positive than I was expecting
Mr T I sat in the 1er today and had my lunch with a wet tea towel over my head and ummmmm nope it didn't help
Its funny that Jonttt is not keen which is down to him owning a 1er there is definitely more of a thumbs up from non 1er owners
The Carbon bits from BMWs performance range is flippin pricey
Spoiler is £640, Rear Diffuser £1200, Mirror caps £400, Splitters £390 etc, however its top notch and beautifully made. Luckily I picked up the diffuser second hand.
BMW also do the Aero Spoiler which I had on the old 1er which I didn't like as it kept lifting at the ends, BMW use 3M tape on those, the carbon one is glued on.
Mapping the 1er I'm not keen on as it has a free 5 year service pack which is voided with any non approved mods.
Hmmmmm well will have to see if I can do a photoshop
Thanks again,
Tim.
