Because I'm Mad..

Post by Giles »

...am cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats starting this coming Friday.

Going unsupported with a friend and we plan to take around 15 days.

Trying to raise as much as possible for Cancer Research - more details here http://www.justgiving.com/Giles-Bowes/ and if you are so inclined you can follow the blog here http://lejognutter.blogspot.com/ (not much to say at the moment, but I guess when the sweat starts they'll be more words)

Cheers :)

Good luck with the journey, 15 days  that doesnt sound very long but have a safe and enjoyable time.

If we knew your proposed route maybe some of us could cheer you along the way in our zeds and give a toot or two, just a thought.

You should go from John O'Groats to Lands End as its down hill.

Good luck with the ride and I will sort out some sponsorship for you. Let us know your route and timetable if you can

Great thing to do, great charity. Good luck. Donation made.

One thing I would say to anyone who is going to make a donation, make sure you tick the "gift aid" option. By doing that it means that even more money is raised. Every penny is a penny closer to finding a cure.

:cheers

Best of luck Giles and look after yourself. Three blokes from work were doing it a few years ago., one got run over and killed training for the trip and another run over and killed keeping up the cycling after it.

I hope you have better luck

Just a quick "Bump" really to bring this back up and into peoples attention again.

Despite never meeting Giles (or being on any zroadster events) This is for a great cause (and for one of us Z'ers taking on a great challenge)

Recently a fellow member posted their story of there scare with cancer. I and many other appluad you on telling us your story and congratulate you on your recovery. My bosses wife lost her sister a year or so back and I myself had a brief scare just over a year back along with my mother in just the past month having a scare.

So all im asking and every person that has or knows someone that is/has suffered from cancer is the following...

Are you thinking of ordering that takeaway tonight?
Thinking of nipping out for a couple of pints with your mates at the pub?
Forgetting the above for just one night and instead making a small donation whatever it is towards helping to make a difference. Tomorrow heaven forbid it could be you that gets the news no one wishes to recieve.

Thats my preach over now. Back to Zedding.

Good luck Giles.

Good luck Giles

As already said, this horrible disease has probably touched all of us in one way or another.
;
"Get a puncture"... is that the cycling equivalent of "break a leg" ?? :puzzle: :D

I don't really want you to get a puncture..... Donation sent :thumb:

Just to say I'm back.

Can't quite believe we travelled 1100 miles in 16 days. Saw parts of the UK I never even knew existed and seriously one of the best experiences of my life - phew!

Best bit was, we raised nearly £1500 for Cancer Research - thanks to all those that contributed :P

If anyone is still interested, there a blog of events here http://lejognutter.blogspot.com/ and you can still donate here http://www.justgiving.com/Giles-Bowes/
