Well finally got around to posting up an insight to a Euro road trip we did end of May early June.
Well it started as a pub conversation and my wish list and with lots of planning and getting the cars ready we did it.
We headed through the Tunnel into Northern France, overnight in Saint Omer
Then headed to Lyon for another overnight.
Then to Nice, We arrived in Nice the afternoon of the Monaco Grand Prix so the place was buzzing.
The next morning we headed into Monaco the day after the F1 grand prix along the most beautiful coastline, the F1 track was still set up and cars were on it so we drove it ourselves. Amazing experience. Then of course we stopped for a drink in the Cafe de Paris. After paying 13.50 euro’s for a beer we left.
After that we headed up into the mountains to the famous driving road as done on top gear ‘ the col de turini ‘ .
I struggled along these roads so i allowed my mate to drive my Z4 ,to many hairpins for my arms.
We then followed the coast road/motorway to Genoa and then north to Milan for an overnight.
Such spectacular scenery with long tunnels and bridges.
From Milan we headed north passing lake como to the Stelvio National Park and another famous driving road the ‘ Stelvio pass’ and then did an overnight in Martello.
The Stelvio pass had only opened 3 days previous because of the snow.
Next morning headed North over another mountainous road , through Austria into Germany to Munich were we visited BMW World, which is where the headquarters are and the museum and factory. We took a tour of all the attractions.
From there up to Aschaffenburg which is just south of Franfurt to visit friends and had a great time in the town.
Then up to Liege in Belgium where we visited the Spa F1 racetrack. Audi had a racing event on that day. Racing some rather nice RX8 V10’s .
Then home and 2600 miles of smiles in 8 days.
My 3.0 Z4 doing an average of 34 Mpg over the 2600 miles. Running on the higher octane stuff, sometimes 100 octane but never dare try the 102 octane we found in Germany.
i tried to put the pics in order but gave up !
