JB will undoubtedly settle for BAR in 2005.

A. Williams aren't going to rock the boat anymore, and I don't think Frank will shell out the money necessary to try and buy JB's contract anyway.

B. Dave Richards and JB have been preparing for the decision by making statements earlier today about how each other's attitudes have been impeccable during the last few months. The one benefit of the delay in the CRB's ruling is it has allowed the dust to settle somewhat.

So it's a kiss and make up, and back to work, at least as far as 2005 goes.

Frank Williams has surprisingly been talking Pizzonia up in the last 24 hours. So my guess is that as any other driver worth having would want more than a 1 year contract, Pizzonia will get the job for 2005 so that JB can come to play in 2006

David - I agree with most of your statement - and think that Button and Richards have been very professional through this - but I would like to see Coulthard in the frame for Williams - god knows if it will happen - he doesnt have a ride at the moment - any thoughts

He's been a loyal servant to FW & RD, but what sums him up for me? he's unlucky.

Industrious yes, sensible yes, squeaky clean yes, fittest bird in the paddock - maybe, but fast or gifted or a qualifying maestro? No.

Sorry, but I'd like to see another young buck given a chance, Justin? Where are you Justin? Hang on, where's my RAC license application form?

I like DC and I followed his career right back in Formula Ford, when tipped him to go all the way.
However, I think his stock value has gradually receded during both his latter days with MH and being fairly comprehensively bettered by KR. If I were a team owner, I would be feeling that DC is just looking for somewhere to see out his days and earn a bit more "hotel" money.

I won't be putting my money on him getting the Williams job, I'm afraid

p.s I can't really speak ill of DC. I'm staying in his hotel on Friday and Saturday  :)

The young F1 driver who most deserves a race seat must be Anthony Davidson. He has been more than impressive (consistently) in the Friday test sessions. However, Dave Richards ain't going to let him out of his contract (unless on some sort of loan) because he will want Davidson close to hand when JB jumps ship at the end of 2005.

Having said that it would make a great deal of sense for DR to put him out on loan to see whether AD can really hack it in race conditions, before he renews his 2006 contract

OT: but if your at a loose end for dinner and want to find a good place to eat, I can recommend Sams Place. It's good food, good service and makes for a pleasent evening.

BMW Press Release

Oxford, October 20, 2004. The BMW WilliamsF1 Team today acknowledged the verdict delivered by the Contract Recognitions Board (CRB) that Jenson Button is legally bound to BAR for the 2005 season.
The team also confirmed that it would not seek to challenge the judgement under any other legal jurisdiction.

In response to the verdict, the BMW WilliamsF1 Team Principal Frank Williams said, "Naturally we are disappointed with the CRB's conclusion. We took the view that Jenson was a driver worth challenging for, and based on strong legal advice, we have no regrets about making a bid for his services. The CRB accepted a significant number of the BMW WilliamsF1 Team's arguments, but nevertheless found against us. We do not believe any further legal action in relation to this matter to be in the broader interests of the sport. In spite of the CRB's conclusion, which relates to 2005, we will maintain our close relationship with Jenson for 2006."

Jenson Button commented, "Naturally I am disappointed by the ruling, but as a matter of principle, I firmly believe in standing by the decision the CRB have reached today. BAR have been extremely professional at the race track during this process, and I expect this to continue. I look forward to joining the BMW WilliamsF1 Team in the future."

The BMW WilliamsF1 Team will make a further announcement concerning its 2005 driver line-up in due course.

Thanks for that. I'd already left and now returned.

Yes I am familiar with Sam's Place in Henri Dunant, but alternative Nosenbagen reservations were already chosen by 'er indoors for all 3nights (on account of it was MY plastic :shake: )
