insuring a z3
insuring a z3
Been having a bit of fun today on a comparison site getting prices for my intented next purchase. Living in Northern Ireland it is never easy getting a competitive price but one of our local sites now includes Flux Direct which up to now would not give online prices for Northern Ireland. To cut to the chase I can now insure a 1999 2.8 Z3 for about £330 .... £35 less than any 2.0, 2.2 or 1.8 all manufactured from 1999/2000 onwards. My prefaired option is still a 1998 or 1999 1.9 140bhp at £238 fully comp! All I need now is for somebody to sell me one
Just had another thought that it costs as much to tax the car as it would to insure it rip off or what!

I've just used ClassicLine insurance in Hinckley to insure my 3.0. Restricted mileage policy inc breakdown at around £200 which I thought was good. Good service and nice to speak to a car enthusiast. Very flexible with modifications as well. Recommended.

i was very happy at £640! thats with 7 years no claims, fully comp, 3000 miles social domestic & pleasure only on a 1.9 1999. Must be because of my assumed youthful enthusiasm whilst driving (i'm 26).

Re: insuring a z3
Esure were very good for me, I'm 32 and they insured my Z3 2.8 as a second car (mirrored ncb) with 4 yrs ncb fully comp for £340. They did my merc for £500 too.
The 2 combined costs were cheaper than the nearest / cheapest quote on the Merc alone!
Good luck with your search on the motor front! Go on, get a 2.8, you know you want to!

Yeah Ive got 20 years on you but it is a 2nd car with limited mileage (3000) but no NCB. I did notice that there was no difference in price for SDP and SDP & commuting to a single workplaceRichP wrote:i was very happy at £640! thats with 7 years no claims, fully comp, 3000 miles social domestic & pleasure only on a 1.9 1999. I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..

I have three cars with Admiral Multicar. All fully comp with windscreen cover and no mileage restrictions, but £150 excess for each car. Only named drivers, myself and my wife, and we both have full no claims.

1998 Z3 1.9 auto £193

The touring also has a BMW shortfall policy, which cost £600 for 4 years, which provides a new replacement car if the vehicle is declared a total loss.

Re: insuring a z3
I have taken this a bit further and found out that it would cost me £533 to insure a 2000 3.0 z3 but if I wanted a 1998 3.2 I could insure that for £332 thats the same as a 1997 2.8 and £32 less than for a 2001 2.2 or a 1999 1.8 but £104 more than any pre facelift 1.9 £228. So its all as clear as mud
I would like a 2.2 though but I just don't have the budget for it
Maybe they would take an offer on this one any thoughts anyone?

yip i phoned the day the ad was placed but even though its a pre facelift car the owner insists its a 1.8 engined car maybe I should check with him again and get him to use the vin checker just to be sure. not unless you want to go and check it out for me as its 2 minutes down the road from yous3quattro wrote:Have you seen this one, its a bit closer to home.
