Falken 452 No longer

Post by calbens »

Went to get 2 new front's yesterday to be told that Falken have stopped making the 452's
Searching on line isn't proving to fruitful either although there is a seller in Germany on Ebay that has some and is by far the cheapest inc p&p to the couple of places I've seen in here in the UK.
Anybody else had problems finding them?

Falken 453's are the ne kid on the block.
After three sets of 452s, which were great, the 453s are even better.

Hmm - I think the 453 looks like a more sporty tyre than the 452....

but no matter design etc. I would'nt buy any of them - my cars run on Michelin or Continental...

I run mine on 453's, great tyre. Got them from Etyres, cheapest quote I could find and they fitted them at my house, bonus

To be honest, I couldn't care less about the looks of the tyres, or the brand name. :|

I want a tyre that acts predictably, that has a reasonably high level of wet and dry grip, and when the limits of adhesion are reached there are no sudden surprises. I tried numerous makes until I found the 452s which I thought were the best for my driving style. The one problem with them is the lack of traction in ice and snow, so I change to winter tyres every year.

The 453s are very similar in performance to the 452s, but feel like an evolution, with just a bit more wet grip, especially with standing water, due to the wide lateral grooves. The wear rate is good, and at under £400 a set I can afford to change them before they lose their performance edge.

I do use Michelin Sport Pilots on my Alpina B12, but it's a very different sort of driving.
