BMWCC Gaydon 5th August

Post by italex »

Just got back from attending this event.

Perfect weather and some lovely looking BMW's. The roads were pretty clear so not a bad journey over from Somerset.

Highlight of the day was the track event.

All I can say I have just gone faster than I have have ever before. Took it nice and easy really as I didn't want to corner four abreast without knowing what the others capabilities were. One slip and they would have all been off.

Not exactlly a race day but very enjoyable and good valur for twenty quid, i.e ten pound each (two of us). Donna did scream something at me but i couldn't quite hear what she was saying.

Nice to meet some of the usual faces there but missed Greame (Mr Big P) ad Alfie.

Hope to see you all soon again.

Hi Folks , I've just got back too

I didn't see you Alex and Donna

Gosh it was hot, hot , hot today. Apparently there were more BMWs there than ever before.

It was great to meet some familiar faces like the MMurfs, the Gazs and the Roadies :D Also lovely to meet Ben and RobT for the first time.

Alfie and Graham were you there? I think Senna was there but I missed his Z1..... I think he had gone by the time I had finished my ice-cream and had been for a look around the museum.

Cheers P

Hi all. I think a good time was had by all. Nice to put faces to a lot of names, though I somehow managed to miss Alfie, Graham, Dav, Phil and Nero!

Nice to finally meet the whiteminks (Paula), and thank you for putting up with me for most of the afternoon - glad you enjoyed your icecream! Lovely to meet Dee and her very shiny roadmonster too - I probably looked a bit puzzled as I thought you were waving to me!

And where were the Z8's? Or was that just a rumour, Ben? Nice to meet you anyway. :)

I nearly fried on the way back when the M40 ground to a standstill. There was a burned out car on the hard shoulder when I eventually got moving again, but no sign of the emergency services!

I'll post some photos up a bit later - haven't had chance to get them off the camera yet!

Cheers R.

Ah, it was in the suspiciously large gap next to the Z4 in my next to last pic! :head: :bawl:

It seems it went home early along with the ///MC's. Didn't even wait for the results of the Show'n'Shine!

Thanks Dee!

Yep, I saw a dodgy old black two-seater with a couple of dodgy old characters inside.... :D

Had a big family doo the night before so didn't get there till the afternoon, just in time to spot the aformentioned dodgy characters sloping away....

I saw lots of Zeds that I know well, but no owners to be seen. Graham, Mark, Gaz.....And when I came back a bit later on, they'd burgered off home!

And I saw lots of other Zeds that I didn't recognise, also with few owners in attendance, so sorry if I didn't get to speak to you. An opportunity missed.

I did bump into Neil (NeRo) and we had a natter for a few minutes.

I also had a chat with the owner of one of the two Estoril S50 ///MRs. He was from Nottingham and he did tell me his name, but I forgot, sorry. He'd never heard of this or any forum, so I gave him the details and hopefully he'll sign up here (and Zcars) soon!

I walked round the show several times, but I never saw any Z8s. Where were they?

It was nice to see 3 Z1s, all red, and none of them Spokey's!

And I took a few pics but haven't looked at them yet. I'll post some if they're any good.

Cheers.

Am I right in thinking the Z1 in Rob's second to last pic is owned by the same person who owns the blue Z8 ( background in Roadies Z8 pics)

Look at the registration plates.

If ever there was a time for Z- register, zroadster stickers and cards then that show was it...

OK, I've said my peace.. :|

I saw some dodgy looking characters whilst trying to get out of the show... even had some Pikey trying to get in the car with us
Think he was trying to say he owned a Red MZ3 allegedly

'fraid not. I didn't want to subject the camera to such punishment!

Yeah, like the steering wheel. Have just been quoted £1000+ for a schnitzer wheel which is very hard to justify!!

Anyone know the details of the one in the pic with the CSL?

Best Regards

Nice to meet up with those that I did and apologies to those I didn't. I also spoke to a load of other non-forum members, who hopefully will look in soon. Special apologies to Garyw - I stood looking at him, thinking I know that face (after all we were both on the Cat & Fiddle weekend) the hat and sunglasses were a brilliant disguise

A fantastic day and for once I didn't burn myself thanks to my SPF 50 suncream :sunny

My other photos from Gaydon can be seen on Flickr - also feel free to have a look at some of my other sets

They come up on eBay quite a bit although I can only see one on there at the moment: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/M-type-Steering-w ... dZViewItem

You'll have to be quick though - it's only got about 2 hours left of the auction
