Spokey,

Afraid I won't be able to make it as hoped.

Production schedule shows a crash test looming on or near that weekend so I shall be clenching my buttocks in preperation.

Maybe next time.

Cheers,

Can I please ask that everyone coming on this cruise read this, especially if this is your first time on a cruise.

Please make sure you have cash with you.

Please make sure you fill up when you get to the starting point, it saves time when we're leaving and you WILL use more fuel than you're used to using. I don't have any fuel stops planned. Don't ask me if you'll need to fill up, as a poke in the eye with a pointed stick often offends.

Please be there as early as you can but no later than 09:30. Ideally, I'd like at least some of us to be on the road before 10AM. :thumb:

Ok, I hate to be the wuss to ask what (I guess) others might be thinking…

Spokey, do you have a Bag-O-shyte-weather contingency plan?

BBC weather tells me that it’s gonna be snowing in Derby from tomorrow (Thursday) until at least Sunday.

Looks like the Bull’s Head might be doing very well out of us! :cheers

I do have a disaster plan: A50 / M6 to the first pub for lunch and nattery, then M6 / A50 back again.

You do need to be aware that the Bulls Head is expecting us at 8 for 8:30, though!

I'm in Derby this morning and it's chaos guys/gals more snow on ground then there was on Monday currently have 3-5 inch and it is forecast to snow in to the afternoon. Wife has managed a mile and had to abandon her car and walk as the local roads are not passable main roads are ok but everything else currently is a mare.
Forecast is for snow Friday and Saturday not turning to rain till Sunday.Hope it improves for you all.

Well, after chatting with the lunch venue pub, I reckon that unless something dramatic happens it's more likely that the cruise will go ahead. They've had almost no snow, so if all else fails, we can go there and take over the pub for the day.

It's piling it down with snow here in Pinner right now (8am), and its settling. :shake:
Stanmore near the M1 is gridlocked, Luton M1 is a complete white-out and Luton Airport is closed, according to the news.

BBC weather for Derby says:
Friday - Sunny intervals +3C
Saturday - Sunny +2C
Sunday - Heavy snow +2C

So our destination looks ok, but not sure about getting out of The Smoke... :|
And not sure about getting home on Sunday either!

We plan to leave at about 2.30pm today, so hopefully it'll have mostly cleared by then.

Spokey...
Please can you post your final decision by noon so we have time to cancel the hotel if needed? Ta.

Cheers

Sunday has now changed to 'Light Showers'.
So at least getting home should be ok.

The snow has stopped here now and it's turning to slush, but the radio says lots of areas on my route are at a standstill.

Still, a few hours to go yet!

Alfie, Dario & Gary,

Nip to your local supermarket, buy as much salt as you can fit in your boot, including dishwasher salt (I find this particularly good for its non slip properties  ) and get your twitchy rears in your cars and stop being.........Yep.....You guessed what was coming next didn't you? :D

A bunch of Southern Softies  :D

*all the time secretly praying that Viv makes it home from Glasgow*

Only kidding guys! Don't chance it if you're scared....ermm, I mean worried, its not worth it.

Bex.... It's not fear, more whether it's actually possible to travel anywhere north of London. Many major junctions and roads were in complete gridlock this morning, but hopefully that'll all be cleared up by the time we leave.

It's looking ok at the moment. 8-)

I was only teasing you all about the softy bit!

If I thought it was going to be bad getting to it from my neck of the woods I wouldn't chance it either, its just not worth it!
As it is I'm lucky because there's been no snow here, its just bitterly cold, but the sun is shining so i can't complain.

Anyway I'm really sorry your not coming, you'll both be missed :(

My meeting in Northampton was cancelled today due to the snow- they were leaving to go home early.
Here however its clearing up with even dry tarmac...!
One guy called to say he was standstill on the M1, however called an hour later to say he was on the M6 and no sign of snow apart from in the fields!! :?
See you all tomorrow unless some major weather change takes place...
