Did you not recognise a certain little black car in that lot?
It was a fab day out with a lot going on. Sorry I didn't see you, Bally, but you did at least find my car.
The noise from the cars doing the sprint was phenomenal and it was great wandering around the pits and talking to some of the owners and drivers. I went with the AH owners club. We had a very good turnout of cars and the bbq lunch was great. We sat and watch one of the Red Bull air race planes doing some acrobatics whilst we ate it. I took a fair few pics too, so I will try not to overlap with Bally's.
The weather was mixed - it had been wet before and going in I had to have a push after I had to stop behind the car in front and couldn't get going again. Coming out after the fireworks display at 10.45pm in the pitch dark over the same muddy bit was interesting to say the least - was very much like driving a rally car with the back end sliding about - I wouldn't like to have been negotiating that after today's rain. It didn't rain until about 6, but it did so continuously for almost 2 hours before stopping again!

GREAT SHOTS ROB,
I will have to google the Spyker to see some more of them as I don't really know much about them.
Love to have the Napier/Bentley at a BBQ, it would do the steaks very nicely (alcahol flavour?) quite novel if not a tad expensive "just the bees".
Thanks for the shot of the 100S, havn't been near one since over there in 83. There are rumours that John Seabrook owned a 100S over here and raced it in the early days. It is supposed to have been badly damaged but no one has owned up to finding it yet.
Of course I recognised your P&J, very smart too, could take a while to clean it if the mud was that deep though. What a interesting day it must have been.
Thanks for the photo's, very much appreciated.

Some great pics rob, i think we looked at all the same cars and what a great day out, has to be one of the best "mixed" collections of cars i have seen in a long time!!
On sifting through the pics i have spotted you on this one, must have been the orange jacket camouflaged you
Froggy looked in tip top form even after the muddy adventure, very good turn out in the AH club
The other pics of the spyker:

I didn't spot you taking the pic - I think I had my chops round some steak from the bbq - it really was very good.
If you had spotted me, I might even have been able to get you some grub.
There were a number of different Healey's on display - and there are both 2 and 4 seater variants. I'm afraid a good 3000 commands quite a hefty price tag though. You could buy a brand new Z4 for less.
Cheers R.

Me and the two lads did look for you but it was quite busy in the tent, i think we must have passed like ships in the night, catch you next time!!
We had just had a burger each from the greasy spoon, £21 now thats how to make money & the que was a mile long......should have gone to the AH stand first for the BBQ!!!
I looked at the prices of AH's yesterday, as you say too rich for me

Having owned quite a few Healeys in the past, IMHO the Z3 is probably as close as you could get to what a "new" Healey would be like if they were still being built.
Powerfull in line 6 cyl engine of about 2-3 litres, up front, with good balance, seats over the back axle giving lots of feedback, soft top, small cabin, precise steering, roadster (obviously).
Reasonably hard riding, and if it gets away on you on a slippery corner, you are probably toasted, although the Z does have better ground clearance.
The MX5 is probably what a sprite would be like if it were still built. Would you agree Rob T.
My personal choices are the 100/4 (which I still own) and the bugeye, because both of them are the start of the line. Which makes them simple and raw. This seems to apply to most marques though. As they become more refined they get heavier and more cumbersome so thet need bigger engines which makes them more cumbersome again and so the circle continues. WHEW! !
