Hi all i have put together a route taking in the Derbyshire Dales, Yorkshire Moors and the Lake District. Set off from Sheffield around 10am meeting place to be arranged.
Can all those comming give me the days they want to attend.

Well done on stepping up to the challenge...
Only advice would be to get off the A65 at Settle and go up the B6479
The A65 is a nothing special road apart from it is heavily policed with regular Talivans...
The other route would take a fabulous road that ends at the Ribblehead Viaduct with super views...

Between Grassington and Patley bridge, there some Caves that has a cafe and toilets..
Settle has a carpark, toilets and petrol...
You'l' be passing close to the Wenslydale diary too...
Give Glossop a miss and head over the woodhead pass,

overall its a lot of hard driving on some of the great roads..

Garyw Which would be the best 2 points from crosspool to go over woodhead pass, sorry but dont know the area just trying to pick what looks a good route from google, will know more when i do a pre run

I've made some alterations that I'd suggest (from the areas I've visited).
I'd have a guess that 12 hours of driving!!

I've moved the start point to nearer the motorway and where there is a shell station and coffee shop...

The road to from Grassington to Ripon is way on the top 5....

bit of a biker road but plety of viewing- and sometimes policed..

Just to bare in mind, I know of two good places with good size car parks on the A65 for a meal/snack/drink/toilet/ stop as per your first suggestion for a route - but will wait until a few more suggestions come in as route may change. Will have a look for accomodation too.

Me+Andrea will be doing both days. I am a bit confused with start /finish point, i suppose this may depend on whose going . some of the places mentioned we did last year on Deano`s cruise,
pately bridge,grassington,aysgarth,settle ,hawes etc all good roads,
Anyway i`m sure were all going to enjoy it,lets hope for

Hi all if anyone is interested then the confirmed route is now posted in my first post, or on garyw thread.
we just need potential stop over point and rest & photo stops.
I suggest Gill (seasurfer) points us in the right direction as i think staying around the lakes is probably the best option and she knows this area better than most of us.

Good spot Gill have just amended it. Route ends Ripon, so will be easy access to motorways for folk going there seperate ways. I am thinking of doing the stop over around lake windermere, if this is good then can you recommend any good Hotels. Would be good to have your input on where to stay as this is around your area.

Fender the run is going over Friday/Saturday unless the majority want to change the dates. Me and Maurice are going to have a recce on Sunday 3rd April so we will sort out the stops. If anyone wants to join us they are more than welcome

Is there anyone else up for this run, doesnt matter which day you choose or where abouts on the run you join, or is it that there is a secret majority staying in to watch that god awful thing that will be plastered all over the telly all day.

Been looking into availability but most have limited to 3 rooms, how many of you need accommodation and do you want to be in the same hotel? Will keep having a look for y'all. Parking seems to be last or not at all a priority, its my first priority, so been trying to find somewhere with decent parking area. Will let you know if i find anything worth looking at.

Can people staying over night give me the types of room they require. ie, double, single, twin. We might have to make a slight detour of the original map towards grange over sands. But it looks a better route going up the length of lake windermere. i have found the Cumbria Grand which has 4 twins available and am looking at others in the same area. Looking at around £75 to £80 per room. There is also the Days inn next to a lake on the M6

Kevin 1st day we leave at point a on the map and drive to the Lakes, stay over and return Saturday ending at ripon.
The following hotels have been found in the same village/town. Can every one who is staying over book which ones they want and send me a pm to confirm it. there is very limited availability due to it been a bank holiday weekend, so we have to be quick.
