SURREY & SUSSEX CRUISE / SUNDAY 8TH MAY 2011

Image

Hi Guys & Girls,

Having volunteered to organise a Sunday cruise, I am hoping to get a really good turnout and would love as many of you as possible to polish your cars and come out to play in the sun. :sunny

I have deliberately chosen a meet up point which has been used previously and should make the cruise very accessible to quite a number of you. :thumb:

The total mileage for the planned route is 63.3 miles and will take us along some superb roads :drive as we head south from Newlands Corner (just outside Guildford) to our destination of Fontwell in Sussex. Along the way we will take time out for refreshments and photo opportunities.

Our lunch venue is The Old Stables in Fontwell. I have made a provisional booking and will need to confirm numbers over the next few weeks so please let me know if you will require lunch.

The cost of the lunch based on the Sunday menu is 2 courses for £9.95 and there is a good choice of dishes available plus the usual traditional roast including a vegetarian option.

Below are timing details of the cruise, journey times should be comfortable and will allow time for the planned stops.

SUNDAY 8TH MAY

08.45 Meet up at Newlands Corner / Photos.

Image

Subject to numbers attending, I would suggest that we park up in the larger car park in Drove Road opposite the New Barn Coffee Shop as their car park is relatively small and gets quite busy (See photo below).

Image

9.00 Cafe opens (New Barn Coffee Shop).

09.30 Depart on cruise - Journey south towards Fontwell via Bramley, Alfold, Loxwood, Wisborough Green, Petworth, Midhurst, Petersfield and then onto Goodwood Motor Circuit. (Photos on route).

12.00 Arrive Goodwood Motor Circuit / Aero Club Cafe.
(Refreshments / photos)

Image

12.50 Depart Goodwood - Head for lunch venue at Fontwell.
(For those not wishing to take lunch there is easy access to the
A27 / A29 / A24 for your departure home).

13.00 Arrive at lunch venue (The Old Stables / Fontwell)

13.15 Lunch.

??.?? Photos / Depart for Home. (Easy access for A27, A29 and A24).

ADDITIONAL INFO:

These cruises are great fun but are not a race or rally :nono and for this reason speed limits and traffic laws should be adhered to at all times. This will minimise any attention from Police etc, allowing everyone to have a good day out in safety.

Two-Way radios are a great way of staying in touch on a cruise, they lead to a good amount of banter and keeps your passenger involved. The Binatone Terrain 550 Long Range TWO Way Radios are available as a twin pack complete with charger online for about £30.00 and are ideal for in car use on this type of event.

A detailed map and journey instructions will be provided at the meet up point so there will be no risk of people becoming lost or not knowing where the planned route will take us.

LIST OF THOSE WISHING TO PARTICIPATE.

Spaces at this stage are not limited but don't delay in registering yourself as I will need to give numbers the lunch venue sooner rather than later.

Hi,

I'm interested but won't be able to confirm for a couple of weeks. Can you put me down as a maybe. Won't be staying for lunch, but it looks like a nice little circuit for me!

We would come along but are in the process of moving to France and will be zipping about Brittany signing final papers this weekend. If its as good as the Dunsfold outing it will be great. Once settled in Brittany I intend organising a cruise along the south Brittany coast. Something to look forward to in 2012 I think. Have a good cruise in Surrey/Sussex.

Seeing as it's almost right past my house I guess it'd be rude not to attend! I've got paintball the day before though so may be a little sore!

I'll speak to the lady and see if she wants to attend, then confirm numbers but I'm a tentative yes.

Hi jontymo

Thanks for the big vote of confidence, I have to say it was a great trip to Germany, made fantastic by the great group of people who went. :D

Perhaps I may have to consider running the same for the BMW guys on this forum as I'm sure they would love it.

Might be worth thinking about a joint run with BMW and Audi.

No problem mate, you are added to the confirmed list.. is your mate thinking of joining you in your car or will he be bringing his own?

Could you just let me know if you are wanting to join us for lunch as the venue is in need of final numbers to allocate tables etc.

See you on the 8th

Hi Jon

650 miles in one weekend that is some serious play time mate. Bet you are enjoying the mpg`s more aswell........so what colour did you go for?

Think you should bring that new TTS down for the Dutch weekend......oh and don`t forget to get me loads of pics and videos of your Spanish week.

Looking forward to the cruise, it will be nice to get out amongst something other than TT`s, who knows I could end up with one of each like yourself..

Hi Trev

Got one in White with a Black pack

MPG so far only averaging 26mpg which is on a par with the V6

Think it is the hilly land in which i live.

Great car though, i thought the V6 was quick but this beast is on another planet, it just surprises you the speed it hits so quickly!! :D

Hi Jon

Thanks for the shout out, I will make sure we get some good footage on the cameras as it will be a great way to get a few more Z owners interested in the idea of a cruise.

Sounds like you have been out playing in the new toy, the TTS is a quick beast mate, the one Trev has always suprises me .... especially when I'm trying to get a photo ... HAHA.

Good to hear from you, stay in touch, I will try to sort the North / South meet up with you for the forum members which should prove a big meet with a bit of luck

Cheers

I know it's very last minute but can you put me down as a maybe.
I'm on standby so can't guarantee I won't be called out overnight, but if available I'll join the back of the cruise in Wisborough Green, I'll probably wait outside the Three Crowns pub. No lunch required. Hope to see you all tomorrow.

Hello Howi,
No problems my friend you are more than welcome to join us on the cruise.

I know the Three Crowns in Wisborough Green well and if you are there we will pick you up sometime around 10.00 am .

Hope to see you there.

Cheers :thumb:

Looking forward to it, I'm a cruise virgin so looking forward to popping my cherry. Go gentle with me.
