BMW Show Santa Pod, 16 September 2012

Post by Ian_C »

Another top day out at Santa Pod, great to catch up with those that were there. Today we had a few zeds on the strip, one in the drift school and a healthy turnout in the zroadster.org area. Here's a few pics:

Had some fun on the track but had real trouble stoping the rears light up off the line.. :( but still great fun!!

Some lovely zeds 8-) and looked like Mark had some fun swinging his bags on the floor :D

SantaPod seems really slippery doesn't it! What times did you get?

Yes I thought so.. I did 5 runs best was 102mph 14.1sec.. Just couldn't stop spinning off the line in 1st.. Need more practice!

I would have thought it would have been in 13s as I had a 250bhp 200sx few years ago and got 14sec dead all the time..
Problem with the zeds is to light at the rear for heavy starts..

What pressures did you have in the rear tyres? Reducing it a bit can help a lot with traction off the lights. Also were they 'prepping' the track? At the shows where they are not running the Drag championships quite often they don't glue the track, that can make a massive difference to how much traction you can get.

My tyres are around 32psi so probably to hard? I'm no expert when it comes to drag racing just do it for the fun of it :D
But I can see how it can become quite competitive! I've no idea if they were prepping the track? Only thing I saw was them putting a yellow powder on the start line

Great pics, shame I didn't make it along! How was the weather? It kept raining when we went last year which upset the drag strip quite a bit

Dry and cold this year James. I've been to the show for the last 5 years now and the only weather I haven't seen there is snow  Don't you just love our unpredictable climate!
