Lakes 2005 - THANK YOU

Post by BartS »

a big thank you first of all for the organisers Giles & Stu for once again a fantastics weekend, company, roads, food, dawn raid .....

The new format worked well, 20 or so cars, many familiar faces a few new ones...it's becoming a real family.

We just got home at 15:30, as we had to leave immediately on arrival at Slaley Hall with the first wing... Sorry we did not have the time to say our goodbyes to the secong wing headed by Giles.... blame Stu he drove too fast.

Great weekend, 800 miles plus, 23mpg and probably a new set of front discs and pads required.

Just spoke to Stu on the way home and told us he had left the best roads of the weekend for the bit that we had to miss out on :head: :head: :head: ...we'll forgive you this time.

quick change now, swap the car and off to LHR, hopefully will have time to post some more in the BA lounge when I get there. Pictures will follow later, will need to go through those first and resize them for posting.

Hope all had a safe journey home and can't wait to read all the posts and pictures.

Best regards

Bart & Sarah

do you actually like driving at all or are cars to you just a manifestation of some sort of pathological mother complex ?

Thanks to Giles and Stu. The whole weekend was great from start to finish.

The weather was sort-of on our side for most of the time and i thank the race Logic kit for saving my bacon a few times. Nic said she was scared and excited at the same time  and she is now hooked (maybe i wont get "that look" next time i drive enthusiastically). The last leg of the run was said to have been the fastest run ever on a Lakes cruise (well it would be, we were all chasing Stu in his supercharger).

Nic and I made some great friends and met some interesting people, hope to see you all again soon.

Thank you all for a great weekend.

Well BLIMEY!

WHAT A WEEKEND!

Excellent company, great social, and man....those roads.....

Thanks to all that attended for making it such a special event, but a HUGE CHEER for Stu and Giles for all their hard work and for making those great roads AWESOME.

Good to finally shake hands with all those that I've only conversed with previously, and Bryn, hopefully we'll get to finish that Saturday-night-chat sometime.

Shame it was all over so soon.....

Thanks again.

We'll post some pics when we've had a chance to sort through them and if we've got any different from those already posted.

Cheers!
Alfie and Diane.

What a great weekend thanks to Stu and Giles and for Jo for organising the meals in the evenings.
We had a really great time, finally got in at 8.40 due to heavy rain on the M1. 1023 miles for the weekend so not too bad a warm up for the when we go to Scotland next month.
Thanks to every one for making a brillant weekend.

Gary and Kay

PS Graham (Big Mr P) you really did miss a awesome weekend.

Forgot to say....

Spokey....how could you miss the last blat of the weekend?

That was probably the most intense and rapid driving I've ever done.
Certainly over such a sustained period.

You would've loved it.

Not that I'm rubbing it in or anything.....

Thanks to Stu Giles and Jo for organising such a great run. :D Sorry we could only do the Saturday. My only complaint was that Giles went so slow leading in his tin top, that we all got caught behind a caravan on a low loader for miles. :bawl: thought we had joined the Gypos :!:  Heather said "at least we can enjoy the scenery" :head:

Well what can i say that hasn't already been said. It was a great weekend where Stu and Giles both put a lot of effort into finding just the right roads (if only i could!! :head: ) and balancing that with a healthy amount of socializing!! Just Brilliant.

It was great to meet everyone and look forward to doing it all over again :-):-)

Thankyou Stu/Sylv & Giles/Larri for a most memorable weekend.

The format worked very well, the hotel was good as usual, nice to meet familiar faces, and a pleasure to meet new ones.

Words can't describe the roads after lunch on the Sunday, but if you were there to see our faces at the end, (and brake dust on the wheels) you would get the picture.

Clocked up just over 900 miles for the weekend! Couldn't post last night as it was very tiering on the way home, very heavy rain on the M6/M5 and lane hoggers made it that much more frustrating :head: , but got home safe in the end.

Pics to follow...............

I'm very intrigued by these roads!!! Could someone post a map for the rest of us, please. If I'm up that way, it might be a nice route to take.

Thanks for posting that Stu.

Perhaps we should have a forum section where people can post great routes?

I think its all been said already but I'd just like to add a HUGE thanks to all who helped organise the weekend especially Stu and Giles who found some of the best roads I've ever driven, I'm still burnt out from that last drive on Sunday afternoon 8-) .

I arrived home yesterday evening after an interesting ferry crossing, first time I've been on a crossing where the captain has advised the passengers to stay seated for the trip  I doubt they sold much food

But it was all well worth it and I hope to see you all there next year.

Take care
Jon

When I sort out my photos I'll post them if I have anything different.[/b]

Having just paid the credit card bill for the hotel and all that high octane juice reminded me to tell you that the Lakes took its toll on the ///M after all.

A very notchy gearchange resulted in 1 new gearbox curtacy of BMW extended warranty :) Must have been like it for ages as the new one is soo much sweeter. Smoother than I ever remember.

More melted rear bumper to trim. Seem like that last run got the Eisenmanns a tad hotter than ever before, causing them to expand outwards into uncharted territory.

Geez that was a fun weekend.
