Thank you for all suggestions I have received. A bit of an unusual meet this as at the begining there was NO planning whatsoever, all the ideas have come from you.
Sorry that not all the ideas/locations can be used, but I think you will find the day most enjoyable.
So here's the format.
Sunday 2nd April 2006
10:00am Meet at Gaydon Heritage Motor Centre & Museum
(opportunity to chit/chat take photos and have a coffee)
11:00am Short drive organised by Phil.
(A gentle convoy of Zed's meandering on the black stuff , returning back to Gaydon) or (option to stay at museum/coffee shop/4x4 trail)
12:00pm Pub Lunch
(always a favorite and a great opportunity to get to know one and other)
14:30pm Another short drive organised by Phil.
(if you enjoyed the first one you will love this one)
15:30/16:00 End of meet
(most likely to be near a major road or motorway junction with coffee facilitys)
What you need to do now!!!
I will need CONFIRMATION via PM or email (jayzee@freddothefrog.wanadoo.co.uk)
If you can COPY and PASTE the following details in the message replacing the info in brackets with your info that would be great

Car Details ( M roadster S54 / Phoenix Yellow / JJ 02SEN )
( i.e. model / colour / reg )
1st Drive ( Yes )
Pub Lunch ( Yes )
2nd Drive ( Yes )
Here's a map for you info.
Its most encouraging that many new members are showing an interest, and hopefully you will join us on many more zed cruises in the uk and rest of europe. Maybe you will want to organize something yourself around your local area to further expand the zed community.
As I suggested in Alfie's post many of us have 'new' cars and we have had quite a few new members sign up recently I thought it would be a great excuse to get us together on one Sunday soon and show off our toys , share our general interests , go for a drive, get some nice group pictures and end up with a pub lunch or something.
There are many active members on this board that we haven't seen out on a meet yet, so lets see you c'mon.

How about Donnington as a venue? After a drive you can look round the F1 museum, ther's a cafe and plenty of parking outside.

Whichever way, it'l be nice to see some of these newbies and have a good photo oppotunity.

I'm happy to meet at either venue, as long as I'm not working I can make it at the weekend. Probably better as its dark at night in the week.
Phil did have some great drives around Gaydon and its possibly more central than Donnington, although Donningtons' museum is very good.
It's a great idea Jay, possibly also have something that doesn't(have)to include a drive as some of the newer members might be a bit wary of that.... Any BMW dealers that we could visit ??

PS can't do 18th out with the dark side

Great if you can join in troyTroy wrote:When a date is decided, put me down as it's about time I came along and some of you guys and gals. Because of work and other lame excuses I have never managed it yet...

Do you have any preference in dates .
If people can post dates that can't do in feb march we can see what's available for everyone
Spokey nice idea and I'm sure greatly appreciated, just I'm sure you have noticed alot of the "newer" owners here seem not as keen or a little weary on driving the cars as much as some others.. which is a shame as they miss out on a great learning experience.spokey wrote: Aw, shucks, and I was going to offer my services for a gentle bimble.
So I believe it would be nice to also have a static meet... in order to encourage more to attend... Maybe Tim can send a news letter/email to let everyone know, (or is that spamming ?? )
garyw
I'd love to comecalbens... you interested in coming?
Since when has owning a Zed been practicalTo be honest Gaydon I could manage but Donington is a bit too far away from me to make it practical.
It's worth the 264 mile round trip, just to give Alfie the pint I owe him...........it's been sat here since DecRED will be there......
Just say where and when.
Ok here goesIf people can post dates that can't do in feb march we can see what's available for everyone
Feb
11th / 12th Working
18th / 19th In France
25th / 26th Working
March
4th / 5th Can Do
11th / 12th Working
18th / 19th Can Do
Oh Dear, unless there is a strange quirk in fate....looks like I might be missing this one
I would have thought April was a better month. Cotswold roads can be unpredictable in Feb/ March. The roads I have in mind are very narrow in parts and unclassified, not to be attempted if any prospect of ice.
Sapphire black/Imola red and black interior/ red roof/ S54 - the only RHD one made.

Taster cruise
I had a thought (yes, really!) that some new owners may be a little reluctant to attend cruises because they're not sure what to expect.
They may have read write-ups of previous outings and maybe got a little scared by some of the stories. But, if they've never experienced the thrill of driving in convoy with a whole string of glamorous zeds, then they've not had the chance to get hooked.
It occurred to me that we could run one or two 'taster' cruises of, say, 20 to 30 minutes on the morning of this event for any newbies who would like to try it before committing to a full blown event (assuming that there are some attending). Or we could arrange a taster cruise on a different occasion, if there was a call for it.
Any thoughts?

Some great ideas coming forward here.
I've had a few PM's too with some suggestions.
The way things seem to be shaping is 10am Gaydon for a meet up photos/chit chat then a short cruise and option for coffee for those who don't want to drive, then perhaps everyone having a look around the museum , then off to lunch then another option for a short cruise after.
All in All it would be great to get some new members to attend (a few have shown interest already) to just meet up on a lovely 'fingers crossed' sunny 'top down' day.
There will be no need for anyone not experienced to be worried or unsure about having to 'keep up' in a convoy on cars as you would have a choice in doing the drives or not. Although I would highly recommend that you give it a try.
April seems to be the favorite for most. So what do you think.
Can I suggest Sunday 9th April to get the ball rolling?

I'm a firm believer that with things like this you should pick a date, and then stick to it, if someone cannot make it, then I'm afraid its a "TS" case for them, you can never cater for everyone.
I'm definately interested, post a FIRM date and then people can start letting you know for sure. I think its about time I come on a cruise
I also need to get the car professionally polished before any meet

Would be great to have you along.
Start a new thread and introduce yourself, and more details of your zed.
Why not bring your own food so if there is that many people everyone can come on the same day!JAY wrote:P.S.
If there is a large amount of interest we may have to split into two lunch venues or even two weekends. if a Lunch venue can't cater for us.
A max of 12 cars per venue/weekend
Thoughts ???

Sunday 9th April is cool for RED....
Marise, I know you're talking sense, but I also think you're maybe making a bit more of it than it is.
On any cruise, it's etiquette and common sense for less experienced or 'slower' (by choice) drivers to stay towards the rear of the group.
The quicker cars at the front don't get held up, and everybody can take it at their own pace.
There's no pressure on anyone once the order settles down, and the cruise leaders and experienced drivers will make sure that nobody gets lost or left behind.....(won't they Jay??? )
So newbies, please don't be daunted, just hang towards the rear of the gang until you're familiar with the pace.
And Marise, you are SO right about the thrill of driving in convoy with any number of gleaming Zeds, you simply can't appreciate it till you've done it. It's a real BUZZ!
Jay / Phil....
I'm happy to help out with organising and leading a wing or backmarking.
Whatever, let me know.
Cheers!

My suggestion.
April 16th -- Gaydon -- 10.30am onwards ( 9th is the Seat Car Club weekend)
Car Park display, coffee
11.00am 1 hour cruise
12.15 -2.00 lunch (options are 'bring your own', use Gaydon cafeteria, or local pub restaurant)
2.30pm 1 hour cruise
The museum/4x4 drives are always open and available.
So it could be that you just turn up and join in.
The only things I would need to know is who wants the pub/restaurant as that would need to be booked in advance and who wants to do the drives ie both or only morning or afternoon.
Finally we need to be aware that Gaydon make a charge for club events but not if you just turn up and use the facilities.
Thoughts please

Is this likely to be on the same scale/type of event as the BMW one in August?
Good plan.. those who don't want to do the 11.00am drive can go to the museum.Phil wrote: April 16th -- Gaydon -- 10.30am onwards

I wouldn't class this as a "club event" so I think were ok there.
If we all use atleast the coffee shop when we first meet up do you think that would be ok with them?
