Skid pan training

Post by indizee »

There is a Skid Pan Training Session available courtesy of Drive Alive UK. This is at RAF Honington and Drive Alive UK about 5 miles south of Bury St Edmunds. It cost me and the wife about 60 quid for the two of us, but this was a group rate with the MGOC.
It was a great day of instruction and info followed by some skill training in cars on the skid pan, teaching drivers the aspects of skids and control in both front wheel and rear wheel drive cars. Afterwards we had a free for all with 2 cars going mad round the track doing skid control for the rest of the day. Great fun, quite funny just watching each others antics, but weather was cold and windy, and outside. But all in all a great day. If you haven't done this it really shows you how to control your car, and has proved useful for me a few times when fast cornering and roundabouts in the wet.
