often thought about this kind of thing. Any idea what they are charging the owner for it?
Any chance of snapping a few photos?

i mite be able to get some pics later..
i didnt have my camera at the time..

price all depends on what your wrapping it with as they cost different prices... showed me some pics of a car hes done in mirror chrome! and wow..

i went in there as im having the full bmw chrome pack fitted... but in mirror vinyl!!
@ a fraction of the price of what you pay for all the parts from bmw..... and it will look just as good...
thats side gills, screen surround, door handles and 3rd brake light top all wrapped in mirror chrome ;-)

Yes it does.

I take it you wash it as normal?

No need for wax? And no stone chips :D

Does it peel off after time?

Many thanks

I've had vinyl wrap on the bonnet of my van for 9 years now, faded a little now but still intact :)

Not that keen on the pink tint!

I would like it with a white finish, with black silky alloys.

Looks nice, saw a white pearl effect on a different car the other day. Not my sort of colour, but its always nice to see something a bit different! Also interested in the cost and also, do they do the door jams etc? It would bug the ass out of me if they didn't...

It depends on the vinyl used..

The pearl on the zed was £1600

But he said a basic colour like gloss black, white etc.. was £1000 fitted.

He said theres so many colours to choose... like the black for example can come matt, gloss, metalic, silver fleck, carbon etc etc.... so many different shades, effects of each colour!! Id have a nightmare choosing

So whos thinking of having it done :?: :P

My neighbour has a sign company, he wrapped his wife's 1.2 Clio as a test. Not worth me posting a pic of a bog standard Clio, but I agree, the skill in doing it is impressive.

Is vinyl wrapping a permanent fixture? I mean, in 5-6 years if it fades or chips/rips can it be removed and replaced?

as above...I'm also intrigued as to what happens to the paintwork underneath after a while? Is it OK? Does the wrap act as a sort of protective 'film' for the paintwork or does it get trashed?

Wrapping protects the paintwork - compare it to the protective cover that is on a computer/mobile phone for instance - it's meant to keep it scratch free.

For instance: In Denmark most taxis are normal cars that are wrapped with all kinds of commercials. They are sold after 2 years with 250.000 km on the odometer - but look brand new on the outside because ot the wrapping.

Yes as said the wrapping protects the paint..

If a part gets damaged it can simply be removed and a new bit put on... Cheaper than paint...

When removed it doesnt damage the paint underneath.. Like when you see a van thats had its sign writing removed.. Most of the time the paint where the signs were are perfect and the rest of the paintwork faded!!
