10mm lower and 22mm longer, no extra bracing was required, and good news is that RunFlats are not being used. :D

Yep, just saw that on the cover of Autocar. Wonder why they didn't go for the 400bhp V8.

OK, I'm a believer now! Why? Because I'm number 2 on my dealers waiting list. Confirmed. The car is official and will be going into production in Jan for April delivery. Woo hoo!

I love the Z4 and I just couldn't miss this chance to own a 340BHP version. Roll on April.

Now, where is my piggy bank....

In little pieces all over the floor I suspect!

You remind me of the Guy on the Remington adverts! To paraphrase "I liked the pictures/idea so much, I bought the car"

What colour you gonna get? :?:

John Boy, was originally thinking of black with red leather, but the press shots of the Imola Red look very nice! Decisions, decisions....

Engine bay too small for V8

I think John was being sarcastic. There's tons of room--it's width that's needed. The problem is marketing and product positioning.

On the positive side, the performance will be all that's needed--more than Z3M roadster on a well sorted chassis--and it keeps the price reasonable.

Mmmm very nice indeed, I during Spokey's run also the story that the V8 did not fit in the engine bay.

However Tim's comment about product positioning and affordability do make sense to me.

Colour palette is still an issue for me on the Z4...I suppose you can always chose any colour under the "Individual" scheme, but forking out so much extra on a colour that used to be a standard ///M colour (eg. Estoril) does seem like a moneyspinning activity from BMW.

choices ...///M Z4 roadster or coupe.....? glad I can't afford the choice!

Jules is your beast "for sale" sign genuine?

I'm not tempted to upgrade; the 3.0 SMG is really quite quick. The tyres will need replacing shortly and I'm thinking of changing to Eagle F1 or similar.

I know for a fact that the V8 is a very easy fit in the engine bay; its shorter and wider than the M54 engine and the Z4 bay was designed to handle it.

Yes, colour palette is an issue, though I like Maldives Blue. Lack of colour choice was one of the reasons I waited until there was something I liked (Olivin). Having seen Estoril on the Z4 'in the flesh' I would advise against it, it looks rather brash. It will be interesting to see what the new Z4 colours look like: Monaco Blue, Flamenco Red, Silver Grey and Deep Green.

BartS, yes, the for sale sign is for real. I placed my order with my dealer for the Z4M the instant the news got out. I'm number 2 in the queue at my dealer. Looking at around April delivery. Just in time for Highlander II!

Haven't advertised the current car yet, but if anyone wants to make at anytime, just PM me.

The 3.0 SMG is quick, but I was disappointed not to see SMG as an option right at the beginning of the E85 M Roadster. Maybe for model year 07 :?:

the Alpina's only 0.3 seconds slower to 60mph, faster at the top end and more exclusive. I'm disappointed that the big V8 didn't go in-Hartge have done it after all no problems.....would've seriously considered it if they'd done that.
Not too sure if I'd want to change. I don't consider changing from Alpina to M an upgrade.........each have their own qualities. Mind you the E34 M5 I had for 18months was something else!!(though it did have some 'optional extras'!!).

Nice option Jules. The full/extended leather option really finishes the car off nicely. :D

It sure does. It was an easy option to pick after seeing the full leather (New England) option on the 3.0i. Just makes it that little bit more special.
