Newbie

Post by lmrdave »

Hello,

I am now a proud owner of a 2.8 Z3 pre face lift (artic silver, red leather seats), I've had my eye on them for a while after falling for the lines of the Z3 coupe. I felt like a change and wanted to have more cylinders and stay rear wheel drive so a bmw was a no brainer.

I thought I'd best introduce myself first as it's my first BMW so may well have a few questions. First jobs are just driving her and seeing what needs fixing (if anything) I'm also going to do a roll bar retro fit and fix the play in the seats.

Cheers,

Dave

Welcome! Good luck with the search for roll bar retro fit parts, assuming you aren't buying them new. Took me quite a while to get together all the trim you have to replace but the final parts are coming this weekend. When you come to it put up a wanted thread on the Stock Exchange forum here, it's where I found most of the parts for mine :)

Hi and Welcome.

Nice choice of colour and engine - not that I'm biased in anyway :D

I only have one picture of her so far . . .

I already have the whole kit (hopefully) bought off ebay, trim, hoops, brackets and all, in fact I bought it before buying the car!

After looking around I thought lighter colours suited the Z3 better, darker colours seems to hid it's lines, but at the end of the day it's personal choice, but yeah silver is best

Best thing about silver is it hides the dust and dirt ( we had a silver zed ) but if you like to get obsesive about paintwork get a black one  We think a zed has classic lines whatever the colour.e.g.

Will you be coming to zed fest ? We did the roll bar retrofit if you have any questions just ask.

I saw a nice black Z3 on Newark bypass coming home from a weekend away, it looked very nice in the flesh.

I had my fill of black cars when I had a mk1 escort mexico, I had to wash it everytime I took it out of the garage, but it was worth it! :D

Being a good South African - - I have to agree that Black is beautiful. Keeping it looking clean is a bit of an issue, but once done, there's nothing more elegant. I think second choice would be Imola Red, and then Arctic Silver...
But it's just preference....
